New discovery about the cause of cancer
Recently, American scientists have had a new "perspective" on the causes of common cancers, including errors in copying the genetic code (DNA).
Until now, people still believe that the cause of cancer is due to genetics or the consequences of an unhealthy lifestyle. However, a recent study by American scientists has shown a new "perspective" that even people with a scientific lifestyle still get cancer due to errors in copying the genetic code (DNA).

According to a newly published study by the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, two-thirds of cases of "evil" cancers are caused by errors in the gene coding process (DNA) during cell division.
To reach this conclusion, scientists studied mutations that cause abnormal cell growth in 32 different types of cancer. Using machine learning algorithms, scientists studied and collected gene copy sequences. The results showed that there must be 2 or more mutated genes (copy errors) to lead to cancer.
In the case of malignant cancers such as brain cancer, bone cancer, prostate cancer, 95% of cases are caused by copying errors in some important DNA genes. Scientists explain that nothing can prevent random mistakes in genetic coding when cells divide and copy. Copying errors are sometimes harmless, but if they occur in important genetic codes, those mutations are potential cancer mutations.
Dr. Critina Tomasetti, co-leader of the research team, said that up to 66% of cancer mutations are due to copying errors, 29% are due to lifestyle and only 5% are due to inherited gene errors: "It can be said that it is a matter of luck in the process of analyzing the genetic code of each person.
We all know that we need to avoid environmental factors that cause cancer, such as smoking. But not everyone knows that every time a cell divides into two new cells, many mistakes can be made. It's like typing. You can reduce typing errors if you concentrate or if you don't miss any keys on the keyboard. But that doesn't mean that mistakes don't happen because no one can type perfectly."
The research team said their work aims to find answers to the millions of cases of cancer that develop despite a healthy lifestyle or adherence to all cancer prevention measures recommended by scientists. In addition, the team hopes to raise awareness of cancer-causing mutations to develop early detection methods for this deadly disease.
However, scientists at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Institute advise that even if research shows that cancer is a random mutation or a matter of fate, we still need to take cancer prevention measures, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and especially always "listen to your body" and have regular check-ups. Early diagnosis of cancer always increases the chance of cure. In fact, with some types of cancer, the chance of successful treatment can be up to 98% if detected early./.
