According to the Nghia Son commune government, the bomb was discovered by local people while expanding the farming area of ​​a household in Son Lien hamlet, Nghia Son commune, Nghia Dan district.

The bomb was 25cm in diameter, weighed 500 pounds, or 200kg, and was 4.5m deep underground and had great destructive power. This was a bomb left over from the war dropped by the US. This bomb was located right in a residential area, very close to the national highway.
