Radio and television Belge Francophone (RTBF) later reported that police also found an AK-47 rifle at the scene of the attack at Zaventem airport. The gun was found near the body of one of the suspected suicide bombers whose image was previously released by Belgian police.
The discovery further confirms the IS claim of responsibility, which it said had “jihadists open fire at Zaventem airport” before detonating explosives.
On the evening of March 22, Belgian police issued a wanted notice for the third suspect recorded by surveillance cameras at Zaventem airport and asked the public to cooperate in providing information.
