Large number of rare animals found on car roof
Police in Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh province have discovered and seized a large quantity of rare animals, illegal wood and fireworks.
On October 19, Gia Vien District Police, Ninh Binh Province coordinated with Hoa Lu - Gia Vien Forest Protection Department on duty on Highway 477, passing through Gia Van Commune (Gia Vien District) and discovered a passenger car with license plate UN 299 (Lao license plate) driven by Tran Van Minh (43 years old), residing in Lac Van Commune, Nho Quan District (Ninh Binh) showing suspicious signs and requested to stop the car for administrative inspection.

At the time of inspection, the working group found a large number of pangolins, big-headed turtles, fire leopards, bear paws, rosewood, firecrackers on the roof of the vehicle... Counting the vehicle, the authorities counted 22 bear paws weighing 50kg; 69 big-headed turtles (weighing 32.5kg); 32 pangolins (weighing 128kg); 5kg of pangolin scales; 1 fire leopard (dead, weighing 12kg); 30kg of firecrackers and 1,471m3 of rosewood.

At the police station, Tran Van Minh confessed to transporting 4 people from Luongpabang (Laos) to Nghe An for sale. The authorities are currently investigating to clarify and handle the case according to the law./.
