Cannons from the Minh Mạng era discovered.
On the afternoon of August 5th, the People's Committee of Binh Hai commune, Binh Son district (Quang Ngai province), in coordination with relevant agencies, carried out the necessary procedures to hand over the cannon.For preservation, display, and research by the Quang Ngai Provincial Museum.
The cannon was discovered on July 28th by a group of construction workers building a seawall in An Cuong village, Binh Hai commune; they then sold it as scrap metal to Mr. Ho Van Truc in Son Tinh district (Quang Ngai province) for over 3.2 million VND.

A small-sized cannon was first discovered in the waters off Quang Ngai province.
After receiving the information, the People's Committee of Binh Hai commune persuaded Mr. Truc to hand over the cannon to the authorities.
According to Dr. Doan Ngoc Khoi, Deputy Director of the Quang Ngai Museum, the cannon was cast in bronze, weighs 35 kg, is 70 cm long, has a maximum base diameter of 15 cm, and a barrel diameter of 6 cm. The cannon is engraved with six characters: "Minh Mang 15th year of reign," meaning it was cast during the 15th year of Minh Mang's reign (1834).
This is the first small-sized cannon ever found in the waters off Quang Ngai province.
