Detect and handle many businesses trading in poor quality fertilizers
(Baonghean.vn) - In the context of soaring fertilizer prices, what farmers are worried about is buying poor quality fertilizer. In fact, Nghe An's professional agencies have discovered many businesses selling poor quality fertilizer.
Having experienced buying poor quality fertilizer, Mrs. Huong and her husband in Dinh Hop village, Dinh Son commune (Anh Son) said that not long ago, at a kiosk in the commune, they bought tons of NPK fertilizer to fertilize 2 hectares of oranges.
After a long time, despite favorable weather and rain, the orange garden did not grow any better. When digging it up to check, they found that almost all of the previously applied fertilizer was still intact in the soil. Suspecting that they had bought poor quality fertilizer, with no other choice, Mrs. Huong and her husband had to spend more money, finding a reputable fertilizer dealer to buy it again.

“In farming, for farmers, if fertilizer prices increase, they have to accept having to buy at a higher price, but the biggest fear is buying fake, poor quality fertilizer, because it is a double loss. Therefore, what people want is for the authorities to increase inspection of fertilizers circulating on the market to promptly detect fake, poor quality fertilizers, limiting damage to farmers,” Ms. Huong worried.
Ms. Vo Thi Nhung - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: In the context of skyrocketing prices of inorganic fertilizers, there is a high risk of poor quality fertilizers appearing on the market. Therefore, every year during the peak season, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development strengthens the supervision, inspection and examination of the quality of inorganic fertilizers.
Accordingly, in 2021, units under the Department inspected 83 inorganic fertilizer trading establishments, of which 8 establishments were found to have quality violations, not in accordance with the initially registered content. Since the beginning of 2022, the Department has also conducted 6 inspections and discovered 3 fertilizer trading establishments with incorrect content stated on the packaging, all of which were handled according to regulations.
According to experts, if farmers use inorganic fertilizers with incorrect content as registered, it will affect the growth cycle of crops. Not only that, when applying fertilizer with incorrect content, farmers are forced to apply another costly application, leading to nutritional imbalance in crops.
Every year during the production season, farmers need to go to fertilizer trading establishments licensed by the State to buy fertilizers on the list of fertilizers allowed for circulation and use. At the same time, farmers need to use fertilizers according to technical procedures; during use, if any problems with fertilizer quality are discovered, farmers need to immediately respond to specialized agencies of the agricultural sector to verify and clarify.
