Promoting the value of relics worthy of staunch communists
(Baonghean.vn) - The restoration and embellishment of the Phung Chi Kien Memorial Site is to be worthy of the contributions of the first general of the Vietnam People's Army, of a national historical relic.
This place will become a red address for educating revolutionary traditions, arousing national pride among all classes of people, especially the young generation.

Comrade Phung Chi KienHis real name is Nguyen Vy, born on May 18, 1901, in a farmer family in My Quan village, Van Phan commune (now Dien Yen commune), Dien Chau district. As the youngest of four children, with his intelligence, diligence, and studiousness, Nguyen Vy was given all the conditions by his parents to study both Chinese and Vietnamese with the hope of becoming a useful person for the country in the future.
In 1925, Nguyen Vy went to work at Yen Ly Station in the store of a Chinese merchant and this was also the time when he was enlightened about the revolution.

In October 1926, introduced by some members of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association, Nguyen Vy went abroad to Guangzhou (China), with an identity card bearing the name of his uncle Nguyen Hao. Here, the meeting with leader Nguyen Ai Quoc and the alias he gave him, Phung Chi Kien (the meeting between will and loyalty), turned Nguyen Vy's life into a new page. He officially participated in revolutionary activities and became a student of the political training class at house number 13, Van Minh Street, Guangzhou (China). After a 3-month political training course, leader Nguyen Ai Quoc introduced him to study at the Whampoa Military School of the Sun Yat-sen Government under the name Manh Van Lieu.
In 1930, Phung Chi Kien joined the Indochinese Communist Party. In February 1931, he was renamed Can (Dawn) by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc and sent to study at the Oriental University, Moscow (Soviet era), 1932-1934 course. After graduating, according to the assignment of the Communist International, Phung Chi Kien returned to Hong Kong (China) to join the Overseas Command of the Indochinese Communist Party, headed by comrade Le Hong Phong.

On October 25, 1938, while he was staying at 71 Dai Nam Street, Hong Kong, he was surrounded and arrested by the British Police. Due to the lack of documents and concrete evidence, two months later, they were forced to release Phung Chi Kien and expel him from Hong Kong.
Morning of January 28, 1941,Phung Chi Kienalong with leader Nguyen Ai Quoc and a number of other cadres to Pac Bo (Cao Bang). At the 8th Central Conference (May 1941), comrade Phung Chi Kien was elected to the Party Central Executive Committee, in charge of military affairs, directly commanding the Bac Son - Vu Nhai base area.
To meet the mission requirements in the new revolutionary period, the Bac Son Guerrilla Team was renamed the National Salvation Army Team 1, one of the predecessor units of the Vietnam People's Army, commanded by comrade Phung Chi Kien - Member of the Party Central Committee.

In August 1941, the National Salvation Army divided into two wings and retreated to Cao Bang and Lang Son. The wing retreating to Cao Bang was commanded by comrade Phung Chi Kien. Due to a surprise ambush by the enemy, comrade Phung Chi Kien was seriously injured. On August 21, 1941, comrade Phung Chi Kien sacrificed his life.
In honor ofgreat meritof comrade to the Vietnamese revolution in general and the Vietnam People's Army in particular, 6 years after the day of comrade's sacrifice, Uncle Ho signed the decisionposthumously promoted Phung Chi Kien to the rank of general(according to Decree No. 89/SL, dated September 23, 1947). This was the first general rank promotion of the Vietnam People's Army.

To honor and express gratitude for the contributions of comrade Phung Chi Kien, and at the same time educate the patriotic tradition, revolutionary will of predecessors, and national pride for the younger generation, on August 23, 2011, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 2602/QD-BVHTTDL on ranking the National Historical Relic: Comrade Phung Chi Kien Memorial Site, Dien Yen Commune, Dien Chau District.
Also from the appreciation of the great contributions of comrade Phung Chi Kien to the Vietnamese revolution and to be worthy of a National Historical Relic. The People's Committee of Nghe An province approved the investment project to build the Phung Chi Kien Relic Site in Decision No. 4850/QD.UBND-CNXD dated October 18, 2010 with a total investment of 25 billion VND. Including main items such as: Memorial house (church), reception house, gate, fence; parking lot, electrical system, drainage system, garden, stone embankment, traffic roads...

Capital from the national target program on culture, investment in items of original relics, State budget investment according to annual plans, support capital from the Ministry of National Defense and mobilization of other legal capital sources. The project is invested by the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An and transferred to the People's Committee of Dien Chau district as the investor in Document No. 6706/UBND-CN dated September 23, 2019 of the Provincial People's Committee.
To complete the project in time for the 120th anniversary of Comrade Phung Chi Kien's birthday. After the People's Committee of Nghe An province transferred the investor to the People's Committee of Dien Chau district, the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee and the People's Committee of Dien Chau district focused on leading and directing relevant departments and offices to focus on implementing the unfinished items to ensure quality and progress requirements.

By the end of April 2021, the investment project to build and renovate the memorial house and memorial area of comrade Phung Chi Kien had basically completed the following items: Renovation of comrade Phung Chi Kien's family house, restoration of the horizontal house and well; fence of the temple area; memorial house and purchase of temple furniture; ceremony yard; garden of the relic area...
Mr. Chu Hong Phi - Head of the Propaganda Department of Dien Chau District Party Committee said: The construction of the Project to restore the Memorial Area,Memorial house of comrade Phung Chi Kien, the period of 2021-2025 and the following years is extremely urgent and extremely meaningful, meeting the aspirations of cadres, party members and people of the district; both to show gratitude for the contributions of comrade Phung Chi Kien, and to contribute to educating the revolutionary tradition for the young generation and the success of the Dien Chau tourism development project for the period of 2021-2025.

It is known that after the Phung Chi Kien Memorial Site comes into operation, Dien Chau district will organize the formation of booths and exhibition rooms to introduce local specialties and cultural services at the Memorial Site and Memorial House of Comrade Phung Chi Kien (in which, focusing on OCOP products of communes in the Northeast region of Dien Chau district...). Establish cultural, artistic, physical education and sports clubs, and restore traditional village wells in Dien Yen commune to serve tourists. Build and form a tourist route in the district connecting with the Memorial Site and Memorial House of Comrade Phung Chi Kien.
