(Baonghean) - In Hoi 3 village, Chau Hoi commune, Quy Chau district, everyone who asks about the production and business model of Ms. Ha Thi Dao knows. Ms. Dao is a member of the Savings and Loan Group of the Farmers' Association of Hoi 3 village, Chau Hoi commune; she is a shining example of doing business well thanks to loans from policy banks.

Hoi 3 is in a particularly difficult situation and still has many poor households, mainly Thai ethnic people. Ms. Dao said: “In the past, my family's main occupation was farming, one of the poor households in the village with 5 members, 2 husband and wife are the main laborers and 3 children are in school age. The main source of income is from agricultural production and livestock, there is no other income.

During a difficult time, lacking capital to do business, during a village meeting where the village chief disseminated the Party and State's policies on preferential loans from the Social Policy Bank for poor households and policy families, I learned about it and agreed with my family to register to join the savings and loan group.

In early 2007, Ms. Dao was admitted to the Savings and Loan Group in the village and was considered to borrow 10 million VND from the District Social Policy Bank under the loan program for the poor. After receiving the money, and being guided by the Commune Farmers' Association, village officials, and the Savings and Loan Group, Ms. Dao decided to buy 2 cows. By 2010, the pair of cows had given birth to 3 calves. When the debt repayment deadline came, the family sold 1 cow and 1 calf for 20 million VND to repay the loan and pay for their children's education.
At the end of 2010, Ms. Dao's family was still a poor household. "After much thought and through meetings in the village, meetings of the Savings and Loan Group, I heard the staff of the Social Policy Bank and agricultural extension officers promote typical and effective business models; then I participated in training sessions on breeding techniques and disease prevention for buffaloes and cows, and learned about the reproductive cycle of livestock. Therefore, my husband and I decided to borrow more money to buy more buffaloes and cows" - Ms. Ha Thi Dao shared.
In July 2011, Ms. Dao's family was evaluated by the savings and loan group and the Social Policy Bank lent 20 million VND. With the family's capital, the family bought 1 calf and 2 breeding buffaloes worth 25 million VND. Thanks to applying the knowledge learned, combined with focusing on care and strengthening regular vaccination, the herd of buffaloes and cows developed quite well. After that, Ms. Dao continued to borrow 8 million VND from the clean water and rural environmental sanitation program of the Social Policy Bank to expand the barn and water for daily life.
Thanks to effective livestock farming, in 2013, Ms. Dao's family escaped poverty and completed paying off the debt to the Social Policy Bank. In 2014, the State granted additional forest land with an area of 14 hectares for 50 years of cultivation. In May 2015, my family continued to receive a loan of 30 million VND from the Social Policy Bank from the program for production and business households in difficult areas to plant acacia trees and grass to raise buffaloes and cows.

Thanks to the loan from the Social Policy Bank and the support and guidance on applying techniques in livestock farming from the local government and the Association, through 3 loan periods, Ms. Dao's family has stabilized their lives, had an additional source of income from livestock farming and production and business; up to now, they have escaped poverty and become a well-off household in the whole commune. Current assets are 15 buffaloes and cows worth over 200 million VND; 1 small truck worth about 200 million VND; 1 rice mill worth 20 million VND; 1 cement brick making machine worth 20 million VND; 1 fish pond, and also has the service of renting wedding tents and dishes for weddings for people in the commune. Average annual income is from 170 to 190 million VND after deducting expenses.

The family's livestock raising and business has created stable jobs for 5 workers of the family and the locality. In particular, the greatest joy and pride of her family is that the youngest daughter was admitted to Vinh University in 2014, and is currently continuing her 4th year of study. The family has enough conditions to provide her with a good education.
In 2015, Ms. Ha Thi Dao's family was voted as one of the typical production and business households in the whole district. Ms. Ha shared: To have what we have today may not be a big deal for many people, but for my family and me personally, in the local conditions where I live, there are still many difficulties, so it is a real dream, a dream that I have never dreamed of before. Among them, the Social Policy Bank of Quy Chau district, the staff of the Farmers' Association of Chau Hoi commune and the village's Savings and Loan Group are the ones who have made great contributions... In the coming time, I will continue to use the capital effectively, comply with the repayment of principal and interest in full and on schedule, and at the same time, have the responsibility to share experiences, help and mobilize villagers, members of the savings and loan groups to use capital for the right purpose, comply with the operating regulations of the savings and loan groups, contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction and striving to become rich legitimately in my homeland.
