Promoting the power of solidarity in Workers' Month 2024
(Baonghean.vn) - With the theme "Worker solidarity - Resolution implementation", Nghe An Trade Union's Workers' Month has been built with many different creative activities, affirming the role of the organization and the position of the working class.
Special flag ceremony
On Monday morning, April 22, at Haivina Kim Lien Company Limited, nearly 2,000 workers were present at the factory with a strange feeling. At 7:15 a.m., when all the workers had settled down, Mr. Le Van Son - Chairman of the company's Trade Union quickly shared aboutflag ceremonyspecial and introduced the delegates attending. The national anthem played in a solemn and dignified atmosphere, nearly 2,000 people, including the Korean board of directors and managers, placed their hands on their left chests and sang in unison: “The Vietnamese army marches. Together to save the country, Footsteps echo on the bumpy, distant road…”.
Sharing after the special flag-raising ceremony, worker Pham Thi Thuy (finishing department, Haiviana Kim Lien Company Limited) said: “The last time I attended the flag-raising ceremony was when I was still in school. And this time, when I saluted the flag as a worker, I did not expect to feel so emotional and excited. It was the same workshop, the same people, but I felt a much different spirit when singing the national anthem.”
More than 1 minute for the National Anthem is more than 1 minute of sacredness and emotion. It is even more touching to know that, at that very moment, tens of thousands of workers in enterprises across Nghe An province are also looking towards the red flag with a yellow star and singing with all their pride. This is an activity launched by the Nghe An Provincial Federation of Labor, in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024), the 138th anniversary of International Labor Day and in response to Workers' Month 2024.
What is special about this activity is that it was inspired by the flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the week at Wooin Vina Co., Ltd. - an FDI enterprise in the Thap - Hong - Ky industrial cluster, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province. Accordingly, after the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday, social networks spread a clip recording the heroic and enthusiastic scene when thousands of workers wearing red flags with yellow stars solemnly and heroically performed the flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the week. The flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the week at this enterprise has been included in the company's operating regulations and applied to the entire board of directors, workers and employees.
Sharing about this activity, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hao - Chairman of the Trade Union of Wooin Vina Co., Ltd. said: "The company's leaders came up with this idea right from the first days of building the factory, with the desire to foster patriotism, national pride, solidarity and unity among workers. The wish of the leaders of Woosin Vina Co., Ltd. is also the wish of the leaders of Nghe An Trade Union, when implementing and launching the flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the week. Mr. Thai Minh Sy - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation emphasized: "The flag-raising ceremony and singing of the National Anthem simultaneously organized at grassroots trade unions of enterprises throughout the province will be an activity that creates a highlight in this year's Workers' Month, arousing national pride and solidarity among union members and workers. Along with that, this activity contributes to raising awareness, responsibility, style, discipline, and work efficiency of workers".
In the immediate future, the flag-raising activity will be maintained throughout the 4 weeks of May - Workers' Month. If during that time businesses and workers see practical results from this activity, thenNghe An Trade Unionwill encourage long-term, regular weekly activity.
Flexibility to get closer to workers
In Workers' Month 2024, in addition to annual activities, Nghe An trade unions at all levels will develop more practical activities for workers, listen to workers and develop union members, and establish grassroots trade unions.
With the theme "Worker solidarity - Resolution implementation", key programs will include: Visiting workers' dormitories; Listening to workers' voices; Union meals; Thematic meetings with worker voters; Bringing the resolution into life; May dialogue... Following the success of the series of forums "Workers for enterprises, enterprises for workers" in previous years, this year, Nghe An Provincial Federation of Labor continues to assign grassroots unions in enterprises to propose and coordinate the organization of this forum.
This is an opportunity for employers to meet, exchange, dialogue, listen to union members and employees, and at the same time, it is an opportunity for employees to make recommendations, propose ideas, and solutions to improve productivity, develop products, etc. From these forums, the connection between businesses and employees becomes closer, and representatives of state management agencies also have the opportunity to grasp the situation of businesses and employees.
In addition, the Nghe An Provincial Federation of Labor and grassroots trade union units have been conducting surveys to grasp the situation of workers in boarding houses, dormitories, and public housing to develop practical activities such as visiting, giving gifts, supporting the construction and repair of dormitories and public housing... Along with the task of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions according to assigned targets, trade unions at all levels will coordinate with authorities, professionals, and employers to organize cultural, artistic, physical education, and sports activities.
Based on the contents and activities that the Provincial Federation of Labor guides and suggests, units must implement them selectively, flexibly, and in accordance with the conditions, nature, and characteristics of their units. Only then will the implementation programs be effective and receive a response. Only when they are effective and receive a response can they attract workers to participate in the organization.
