(Baonghean) - In 1965, the US imperialists bombed the North, during those days of "rain of bombs and bullets", in August 1965, Quynh Luu II High School was established, located in Nam Hong hamlet, Quynh Van commune, a land rich in cultural and revolutionary traditions. The establishment of Quynh Luu II High School met the expectations of many generations of students and parents in the northern part of the district, and at the same time marked the development of the Education - Training sector at the high school level in Quynh Luu district.

Rise from hardship

The journey of nearly half a century has been a struggle, construction and growth of many generations of teachers and students of Quynh Luu II High School. Remembering the early days of its establishment with many difficulties and hardships, the school only had 4 classes with 189 students and 9 cadres, teachers and staff. The school's facilities were basements roofed with bamboo and thatch, borrowing doors from local houses as blackboards, no lime walls, no school bags... Teachers and students had to walk dozens of kilometers under the rain of bombs and bullets, only a few had bicycles to get to school. Classes had to be evacuated regularly to ensure safety. But wherever the school was, it always received the attention and help of the government and people where it stood.

Despite facing many difficulties, teachers still silently spread knowledge and educate patriotism to students. During those difficult days, the school's staff - teachers - employees promoted the spirit of solidarity for the sake of beloved students. That spirit has become a valuable tradition of the school that has been and is continuing to be promoted.

During the period 1965 - 1975, the school was the leading flag of moral education in the whole North. This was a time of fierce war across the country, following the sacred call of the Fatherland, hundreds of teachers and students of the school volunteered to go on the mission to protect the country, among them were 85 beloved children of the school who remained on the battlefield for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. Returning after the war, many people continued to serve the cause of protecting the country, they became high-ranking officers in the army, armed forces, scientists...

In 1975, the country was unified and the school moved to a new location in Hamlet 8, Quynh Van Commune. Teachers and students continued to build facilities to serve teaching and learning. During this time, along with Quynh Luu I High School, Quynh Luu II High School separated a part to establish Quynh Luu III High School. With a large number of students taking the entrance exam and an increasingly growing scale, in June 1997, Quynh Luu II High School established a second branch in Quynh Thien Commune, the predecessor of the current Hoang Mai High School.

Since 1975, Quynh Luu II High School has continuously grown and matured, creating a proud tradition. The school has trained nearly 20,000 graduates, who have matured in all fields. Many students have become key officials of the Party and State from the central to local levels; many are scientists: academicians, professors, doctors, engineers, doctors, teachers, journalists, writers, poets... many senior officers in the armed forces, talented entrepreneurs, good workers... contributing to the construction and protection of the homeland.

In the economic field, typical examples include: Mr. Dau Duc Khoi - Hero of Labor, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Electricity Corporation; Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Colonel, Former General Director of Lung Lo Corporation, and many talented businessmen who are enriching the homeland such as the family of Mr. Dinh Van Thuan, Mr. Vo Dang Lang ...

Many students have become famous scientists such as Professor - Academician - Meritorious Student Dinh Van Nha, Associate Professor - Doctor Dinh Van Thuan, who won the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Science and Technology; People's Teacher - Doctor - Lieutenant General Phan Duc Du, former Principal of the People's Security University (now the Security Academy); Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet, a mechanical engineer in manufacturing electrical equipment from Dong Anh - Hanoi, who won the WIPO award (World Intellectual Property Organization of the United Nations awards for creativity and intellectual property) - the best female innovator in the country in 2004 with the product "125MW transformer"; Professor - Doctor Nguyen Van Tuat, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor - Doctor Tran Dinh Thien - Director of the Vietnam Institute of Economics and many others who have PhD, Master's and Bachelor's degrees.

Promoting tradition

Following the example of previous generations, the school's students always strive in studying, practicing and being creative. Almost every generation of students in the school has excellent and successful students. Typical excellent students include: Dinh Van Thuan, Nguyen Van Tuat, Nguyen Thi Nguyet, Dinh Van Hien, Ho Duc Phoc... The following generation of students includes: Ho Dang Chung, 46A1, won First Prize in Chemistry, Provincial Excellent Student Competition in the 2012-2013 school year; Ho Khac Nhat, Tran Van Long - 47A1, scored 27 points in block A in the University and College entrance exams, and were awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Le Van Thoang, 49A1, won First Prize in Mathematics in the Provincial Excellent Student Competition in the 2014-2015 school year; Nguyen Van Tuan won the WIPO Young Innovation Award with the product "Shrimp suffocation detection and prevention machine", a very close and practical creative product for Quynh Luu farmers...

Half a century has passed, along with the development of the homeland, Quynh Luu II High School has continuously grown and matured, creating a proud tradition. Up to now, the school has a relatively spacious facility, with 54 classrooms and 6 functional rooms, including 42 solid high-rise classrooms to ensure 1-shift learning. The campus system, clean and beautiful trees, a friendly educational environment.

The current school scale has 42 classes (14 classes per grade) with 1,570 students. All teachers and staff are qualified and above standard with 16 masters, 5 people studying for a master's degree, 1 person doing a PhD; 12 people have the title of excellent teachers at the provincial level, 41 people have achieved the title of excellent teachers at the school level, 14 people have had initiatives and experiences at the provincial and industry levels.

In recent years, the quality of teaching and learning at Quynh Luu II High School has been increasingly improved, reflected in the results of the exams: provincial excellent students, high school graduation, university and college entrance exams. From the 2003-2004 school year to present, the school has continuously had students achieving university entrance exam scores of 27 points or higher. In the last 5 school years, every year the school has had students with high scores, commended and rewarded by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Notably, in the 2014-2015 school year, in the provincial excellent student exam, Quynh Luu II High School was ranked 10th out of 69 participating units. Including 1 First Prize (Le Van Thoang, class 11A1), 2 Second Prizes, 8 Third Prizes and 8 Encouragement Prizes, ranking 10th in the province. There are 146 grade 10 students recognized as excellent students at the school level; There are 267/385 (69%) students above the university floor score with 534 exam block combinations above the floor score.

With the efforts of teachers and students over many years, perfecting each criterion and standard, gradually improving the quality of teaching and learning, taking care to improve the quality of the staff, gradually improving the facilities... by June 2015, the school was recognized as a National Standard High School. This is the 3rd school out of 7 schools in Quynh Luu district to be recognized.

Throughout the history, generations of cadres, teachers and staff of the school have always been dedicated and devoted to their beloved students, united and attached to the cause of education and training. Many teachers have been awarded noble titles by the State and the industry: 1 teacher has the title of Meritorious Teacher, 2 teachers were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Prime Minister, 6 teachers were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Minister, 9 teachers were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, 15 teachers were awarded the "For the Cause of Education" Medal, many teachers are excellent teachers, Emulation Fighters at all levels, awarded certificates of merit by sectors, levels, and organizations...

With the results achieved, in 2014 the school was recognized as a Cultural Unit, and was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the movement to launch irrigation work; Certificate of Merit for national defense and security work; and the title of Excellent Labor Collective. In particular, in this year the school was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President.

In recent years, the school has been recognized as an advanced and excellent unit at the provincial level for many consecutive years. In 2013 and 2014, the Party Cell was recognized as a strong and clean Party Cell. The Trade Union was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Provincial Labor Federation and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. The school's Youth Union has always been recognized as an excellent and strong unit, and has been awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Provincial Youth Union and the Central Youth Union. In the 2014-2015 school year, the school is being proposed by the Provincial People's Committee to award an Emulation Flag and a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister.
