From the time our Party operated in secrecy, revolutionary newspapers were printed in a very rudimentary way, yet they ignited the indomitable and unwavering fighting spirit of the working class and the laboring people right in the heart of the colonial regime. During the two protracted wars of resistance against France and the United States, the press was a vital force fighting alongside the great people's war. Countless examples of fighting and sacrificing for the independence and freedom of the nation were reflected in the press, illuminating the heroism of the Vietnamese revolution. The journalist-soldiers who fell on the battlefield while holding their pens will forever be a source of pride for all journalists.

While in previous revolutionary periods, the press served the purpose of educating ideals, raising class consciousness, and encouraging patriotism among the people, in the period of reform, the press has played a multifaceted role: bringing the voice of the Party to the people, praising positive new factors, fighting corruption, and protecting the people's right to self-governance... In particular, during the reform period, the press has played a critical role in social critique, supporting what is right, criticizing what is wrong, and paving the way for the development of new factors. The vivid reality of the reform period shows that: In the process of the country's socio-economic development, when complex issues arise with many different perspectives, the press has played a critical role in guiding public opinion. On the ideological front, when forces opposing the revolution spread distorted narratives, slandering the Party and defaming the regime, the press has been a sharp weapon in crushing all reactionary propaganda schemes of the enemy.
The role of the press in the reform process is immense, not only as a very sharp propaganda tool but also as an effective leadership tool of the Party. All the Party's guidelines, policies, and State laws, through vivid forms of propaganda in the press, have reached the people most quickly and effectively. Advanced models in labor, production, economic development, and building a new life are promptly recognized in the press, spreading and creating a ripple effect in society. In the fight against corruption, the press is a vanguard force, bravely bringing many corruption cases to public attention for legal action.
Not only has the press excelled in its propaganda duties for the Party, but it has also participated very effectively in social activities. Throughout the country, whenever natural disasters, floods, or labor accidents occur, the voice of the press has mobilized immense community support, helping people in affected areas. Large-scale campaigns to support the poor, victims of Agent Orange, and poor and disabled children have all benefited from the active and effective participation of press agencies. The reform process led by our Party has profoundly transformed the press, making it a powerful tool for the Party, the State, and the people in this reform effort.
Nghe An is one of the first cradles of revolutionary journalism, where the first Party newspapers were born during the Nghe An - Thinh Hoa Soviet Uprising of 1930-1931. In previous revolutionary periods, Nghe An's press demonstrated its fighting spirit, fulfilling its historical mission on the Party's political and ideological struggle front. During the period of reform, the team of journalists in Nghe An has steadfastly accompanied the Party Committee and the people of the province in the cause of building and developing their homeland, aiming to become a prosperous and strong province of the country as President Ho Chi Minh always wished.
To further enhance the role of journalism in the reform process, media organizations and journalists must uphold social responsibility, cultivate professional ethics, and constantly innovate and improve their journalistic capabilities to meet the demands of journalism in the era of integration and development.
