The order has been given to commence construction of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway.

The Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway is designed according to Class A expressway standards with a design speed of 120 km/h.

On the morning of May 19th, in Ky Long village, Dien Tho commune, Dien Ban district, Quang Nam province, the Ministry of Transport commenced construction of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway Project. Member of the Politburo and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and gave the order to start construction.

The expressway's starting point is at the Tuy Loan intersection in Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city; its end point borders the Quang Ngai city ring road. The total length of the route is nearly 140 km, with a roadbed width of 26 m and four lanes. The entire project includes more than 100 bridges of various sizes and one tunnel. It is invested in by the Vietnam Expressway Investment and Development Corporation with a total investment of nearly US$1.47 billion, funded by Official Development Assistance (ODA) loans from the Japanese government and World Bank loans.

The Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway is designed to Class A expressway standards with a design speed of 120 km/h and is expected to be completed in 2017. It is part of the North-South Expressway and, upon completion, will shorten travel distances and times between the economic centers and regions of Da Nang, Quang Nam, and Quang Ngai provinces and cities.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated that the Da Nang-Quang Ngai expressway opens up investment opportunities, promotes socio-economic development in the Central region, contributes to connecting international transportation in the region, ensures smooth traffic flow, and provides emergency relief for people in the area frequently affected by floods during the rainy season. The Deputy Prime Minister requested the investor and contractor to mobilize sufficient human resources, machinery, equipment, and related resources in accordance with the contract conditions, striving to complete and put into operation the entire route on schedule, with the required quality and objectives.

“To ensure the Da Nang-Quang Ngai expressway is completed on schedule, I request that the investor and contractors coordinate closely with the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and be creative and flexible in implementation in accordance with the law. The People's Committees of Da Nang, Quang Nam, and Quang Ngai provinces and cities must expedite land clearance. With that spirit, I declare the commencement of construction of the Da Nang-Quang Ngai expressway,” said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
