Launching ceremony of Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway

The Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway is designed according to class A expressway standards with a design speed of 120 km/h.

On the morning of May 19, in Ky Long village, Dien Tho commune, Dien Ban district, Quang Nam province, the Ministry of Transport started construction of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway Project. Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and gave the groundbreaking order.

The starting point of the expressway is at Tuy Loan intersection, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city; the end point is adjacent to the Quang Ngai city belt road. The total length of the route is nearly 140 km, the roadbed width is 26 m, the scale is 4 lanes. The entire project has more than 100 large and small bridges, one tunnel, invested by Vietnam Expressway Corporation with a total investment of nearly 1.47 billion USD, from ODA loans of the Japanese Government and loans from the World Bank.

The Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway is designed according to the standards of a class A expressway with a design speed of 120 km/h, expected to be completed in 2017. This is part of the North-South expressway, after completion, it will shorten the distance and travel time between economic centers and regions of the provinces and cities of Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated that the Da Nang – Quang Ngai Expressway opens up investment opportunities, promotes socio-economic development in the Central region, contributes to connecting international transport in the region, ensures smooth traffic, and provides emergency relief for people in areas that are frequently flooded during the rainy season. The Deputy Prime Minister requested the investor and contractor to mobilize sufficient human resources, machinery, equipment and related resources in accordance with the terms of the contract, strive to complete and put into operation the entire route in accordance with the set schedule, quality and goals.

“In order to complete the construction of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway on schedule, I request the investors and contractors to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Transport and the Investment Plan to be creative and flexible in implementation in accordance with legal regulations. The People's Committees of Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces and cities will clear the land. With that spirit, I declare the commencement of construction of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway” - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said./.
