Illegal quartz mining in Nghe An exposed
(Baonghean.vn) - The area where illegal quartz mining is taking place is in a commune in a mountainous district of Nghe An province. Initial information shows that illegal quartz mining has been taking place since the time when the whole society implemented social distancing to prevent and combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

The area where illegal quarrying occurs is a forestry land, where people grow acacia trees. The access road is quite elaborate, from a shallow stream, through some hills with a length of about 2km. On the road, there are many large transport wheel marks.

The illegal mining area is about 200m long, the area with signs of digging is about several thousand square meters. On it, some ore rocks have been dug up, piled up, estimated at about several dozen cubic meters. Regarding the type of ore, the color is not uniform, basically white, with some mixed with yellow, gray and metallic. The ore rocks are relatively large in size and weight (some rocks are about 0.1-0.3 cubic meters).

Some people familiar with the matter in this area also confirmed that this is quartz ore; the illegal miners carried out the act 4-5 months ago, that is, during the period when the whole society was practicing social distancing to prevent and fight the Covid-19 epidemic.
