Maria Zakharova stressed that "for many years, the Russian Federation has been proposing to its EU partners emerging issues that need to be resolved using existing diplomatic methods" through negotiations and consultations.
"But every year there is a growing tendency to deliberately distort all issues, both fact and fiction. Any of our attempts to turn this into a constructive dialogue are blocked by the EU."
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that all of Russia's actions in imposing sanctions against eight EU officials are just "retaliatory measures against the completely unfriendly and sometimes hostile actions that we see from the Western side".
Earlier, Moscow announced that eight citizens of EU countries and representatives of official EU bodies were denied entry to Russia. The blacklist published on Friday (April 30) includes the head of the European Parliament David Sassoli, among others. It should be noted that this measure was taken in response to steps taken against six Russian citizens who were banned from entering the territory of the European Union.
