Developing 6 specialized farming and livestock areas in the suburbs of Vinh

(Baonghean.vn) -With the goal of developing urban agriculture in a clean, safe, sustainable and highly economically efficient direction,Vinh City implements "Suburban agricultural development project to 2020".Accordingly, 6 production and livestock breeding areas were formed.

The suburbs of Vinh city have 9 communes, with over 4,100 hectares of agricultural land, used to grow rice, vegetables, colors, flowers, ornamental plants...

Currently, the City has planned and invested in infrastructure, is building a safe vegetable production model following VietGAP and an organic agricultural production model linking farmers and businesses; aiming to apply high technology to production associated with product consumption.

According to the project, the city is developing 6 intensive production areas. Specifically: Safe vegetable production area with a planned area of ​​370 hectares, including the communes of Nghi Kim, Hung Dong, Nghi An, Nghi Lien and Dong Vinh; Flower and ornamental plant area with a planned area of ​​260 hectares in the communes of Hung Dong, Nghi An, Nghi Lien, Nghi Kim and Dong Vinh. In addition, there is also a high-quality rice area with a planned area of ​​400 hectares; Aquatic product production area with a planned area of ​​245 hectares, including the communes of Hung Hoa, Hung Loc, Nghi Kim and Hung Chinh.

The city also plans livestock and poultry farming areas, in a concentrated, clean manner, with a total poultry herd of over 300,000 heads and a pig herd of 20,000 heads in the communes of Hung Hoa, Nghi An, Nghi Kim, Nghi Lien and Hung Chinh. The area for growing short-term industrial crops is planned with an area of ​​500 hectares in the communes of Nghi An, Nghi Duc and Nghi Kim.

Every year, the suburbs supply the Vinh city market with about 13,300 tons of rice, over 7,000 tons of vegetables, tubers and fruits; over 6,550 tons of fresh meat, over 1,300 tons of seafood and nearly 4,000 tons of corn, beans and peanuts of all kinds.
