Developing the 'hospital - hotel' model
(Baonghean) - Not only aiming for safe and professional medical examination and treatment and rehabilitation, Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital also wants patients to have the opportunity to experience eating, staying, and being served like a "tourist".
The first difficult days
The predecessor of Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital was the Wounded Soldiers' Nursing Station, established on July 15, 1954, located in Nghi Khanh Commune, Nghi Loc District, Nghe An Province. From 1961 to 1964, the station was moved to Dien An Commune, Dien Chau District.

In 1976, the Nursing Station changed its name to “Nursing Institute” and moved to Nghi Huong Commune, Nghi Loc District (1976 – 1981). In 1982, the Nursing Institute was moved to Cua Lo Town, Nghi Loc District.
On July 9, 1999, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision No. 2202/QD-UB.TCCQ to establish "Nghe An Nursing - Rehabilitation Hospital" on the basis of the Nursing Institute. On November 7, 2014, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision No. 85/2014/QD-UBND to change the name to "Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital".

Currently, the Hospital is spaciously built with 03 4-storey buildings, 02 2-storey buildings, 02 1-storey rows of houses; located at 220 Binh Minh Street, Cua Lo Town, Nghe An.
Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital is one of the first units in the province as well as in the country to register for complete autonomy in regular budget expenditures.

Patient Nguyen Van Nam in Hung Tan commune (Hung Nguyen) is 50 years old this year. He came to Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital for treatment with a herniated disc compressing the nerve roots and spinal cord, causing symptoms of pain, numbness, muscle atrophy, and paralysis, leading to difficulty in movement. Initially, because he subjectively felt pain and stiffness in his muscles, he did not go to the doctor immediately but endured the pain and went to work as usual. Over time, the pain became more frequent, leading to numbness in the limbs and difficulty in movement.
“After a period of treatment at Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital, my illness has improved a lot. Now the pain has decreased, and I can move around more easily.”
As for patient Ngo Duc Manh (Hung Phuc ward, Vinh city), 43 years old, a worker at a company, he was hospitalized with pain in his lumbar spine. At first, it was just minor pain, then the pain became continuous and greatly affected his work.To treat Mr. Manh, Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital has a specific treatment regimen combining Eastern and Western medicine such as physical therapy with infrared heat, paraffin, shortwave, electrolysis, electropulse, interference... spinal massage...

Or the case of patient Truong Xuan Thao (born in 1947), who suffered a cerebral hemorrhage 6 months ago. After a period of treatment at the district hospital, the patient was discharged in the following condition: mild paralysis of the left half of the body, difficulty speaking, slurred speech, weak walking, difficulty moving the left arm... The patient went home to practice, fell down the stairs and then could not walk on his left leg, but his arm could still move as before the fall...
“After femoral head replacement surgery at the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital, I was transferred to rehabilitation at Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital. Currently, my health has stabilized, I can take care of myself and move around more easily.”
To support doctors in accurately diagnosing the cause of the disease to have the most effective and safe treatment regimen and process, the hospital has invested in many modern machines and equipment such as: Digital X-ray machine, fully automatic blood biochemistry analyzer, hematology analyzer, urine biochemistry analyzer, blood sugar analyzer, 3D diagnostic color ultrasound machine, electroencephalogram machine, cerebral blood flow machine, 6-channel electrocardiogram machine, bone density meter, ENT endoscope...
The staff is attentive, enthusiastic, and treats patients like family. In particular, the hospital arranges patient rooms like hotel rooms, with full amenities such as: private bathrooms, refrigerators, cable TV, wifi, air conditioning, hot and cold water, toilet paper, daily drinking cups provided for each patient..., with nursing staff cleaning the patient rooms regularly every day to keep them clean, tidy, and neat, ensuring a fresh, clean, beautiful, and airy environment.

Currently, the hospital has 53 doctors, 146 nurses - technicians and other technical staff. Every year, the hospital organizes training, retraining and professional knowledge improvement for staff.
Since the beginning of 2017, the hospital has invited leading experts in rehabilitation and neurology... such as: Professor, Doctor Cao Minh Chau - former Head of the Department of Rehabilitation at Hanoi Medical University, now General Secretary of the Vietnam Rehabilitation Association; Professor, Doctor Nguyen Van Chuong - former Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Neurology at Hospital 103, Military Medical Academy; Senior Pharmacist Nguyen Thi Phuong Cham, and many other experts in Traditional Medicine, emergency resuscitation, hospital quality management, clinical pharmacy... to support, teach, guide, examine, directly treat patients and train human resources for hospital staff.

The hospital has cooperated with Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy to provide specialized training in rehabilitation for 53 doctors working at the hospital. Currently, the hospital is in the process of cooperating with Hanoi Medical University to provide specialized training level I (CKI) for doctors working at the hospital.
The hospital also regularly opens continuous training courses in many fields to train and improve knowledge for employees throughout the hospital; sends staff to study to improve their qualifications, and continuously updates their professional knowledge from many countries.
Developing the “hospital - hotel” model
Since September 2018, the Hospital has been working and negotiating with Taiyo Japan Nursing and Rehabilitation Joint Stock Company to cooperate in opening a Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Nghe An. It is expected that in April 2020, the Vietnam - Japan Taiyo - Nghe An Rehabilitation and Nursing Center will officially come into operation.
The operational goal of Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital as well as the Vietnam - Japan Taiyo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center - Nghe An is: Treatment is not only to restore the anatomical structure but the larger goal is to restore the living function, the function of daily activities, and the ability to work. That is the goal that Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital has been setting for a long time and continues to strengthen to increasingly improve to meet the needs of all people not only in the province, in the country but also towards reaching the international level.
Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital not only cares for elderly patients but also pays special attention to young patients, children and especially those of working age. All patients, of all ages, all regions, all social classes are cared for by Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital to help them soon have the opportunity to access modern advanced medical services that harmoniously combine Vietnamese and Oriental Traditional Medicine.
