Developing commercial aquaculture in the mountainous district of Tuong Duong
(Baonghean.vn) -Tuong Duong district has a very large area of hydroelectric reservoirs. Taking advantage of that advantage, the local target by 2020 is to achieve an aquatic product output of 850 tons.

In Tuong Duong district, there are currently 63 hectares of fish ponds and 152 fish cages on large lakes. Because the area does not have a facility to produce fish seeds, people have to buy them from lowland districts. Therefore, not only are they passive about the farming season, but the price of fish seeds is also relatively high.
On the other hand, the management of exploitation, fishing and protection of aquatic resources is still limited, especially the management of exploitation and fishing on hydroelectric reservoirs in recent times.
The total output of aquaculture and fishing in the district reaches 450 tons/year. Every year, the district allocates budget to buy and release fish fry into hydroelectric lakes in the district to regenerate aquatic resources.

In the district, there are many large reservoirs of hydroelectric plants, the potential for aquaculture is very large. Tuong Duong's goal is to invest in building 1-2 new on-site fish hatcheries by 2020. Establish 2 cooperatives to raise, manage, exploit and protect aquatic resources in hydroelectric reservoirs in the district; at the same time, expand the aquaculture area to 64 hectares of ponds and 225 fish cages in hydroelectric reservoirs; the output will reach 850 tons.
