In the period 2011-2015, aquaculture production has achieved remarkable achievements, however, in the process of development, the industry also encountered many difficulties and challenges such as: Aquatic resources have gradually depleted, coastal exploitation is still high, aquaculture is still unsustainable, environmental pollution and disease outbreaks... Especially, global climate change has strongly affected the development of the aquaculture industry.

Mr. Hoang Ngoc Luyen, Deputy Head of Nghe An Agricultural and Irrigation Planning Delegation presented the draft.

In that situation, the draft on Adjusting and supplementing the planning for fisheries development in Nghe An province to 2020, with a vision to 2030, determined: Fisheries development must be consistent with the province's socio-economic development tasks, promoting the potential and advantages of land and water areas on the basis of applying advanced scientific and technological achievements, with a reasonable structure and form of production organization. In particular, it is necessary to ensure sustainability and efficiency, strengthen the protection of aquatic resources, protect the environment, biodiversity, and proactively adapt to the impacts of climate change and rising sea levels. Accordingly, in seafood exploitation, there will be a shift towards offshore exploitation, continuing to invest in transforming the structure of fishing boats to exploit seafood with high output and economic value; Increasing the aquaculture area to reach an output of 60,000 tons in 2020.
