Approval of the Project for the Development of the Animal Feed Processing Industry
Leveraging existing potential, further strengthening domestic animal feed production and processing capacity to ensure quality, food safety, and lower production costs, while reducing the proportion of imported animal feed raw materials.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang signed Decision 1625/QD-TTg approving the Project for the Development of Animal Feed Processing Industry until 2030.
The specific objective of the Project is to industrialize the domestic production of feed supplements with competitive advantages (processing microorganisms, enzymes, herbs, natural compounds, macronutrients, micronutrients, natural minerals, etc.) to supply approximately 20-25% of the demand by 2025 and 30-35% by 2030.
Promote the application of high technology and advanced technology in processing agricultural and industrial by-products, food processing, etc., into animal feed, in the direction of industrialization, increasing the value of use and economic efficiency.
Industrial animal feed production is projected to reach 24-25 million tons by 2025 and 30-32 million tons by 2030, meeting at least 70% of the total demand for concentrated animal feed.
The content, tasks, and solutions of the Project are to develop and innovate the technological level of industrial animal feed production in areas with a livestock development orientation.
Specifically, this involves developing industrial animal feed production in areas with ample space for livestock farming; and restricting the establishment and expansion of industrial animal feed production facilities in areas with high livestock density and high density of animal feed production facilities.
The content, tasks, and other solutions of the Project include developing the industry for producing supplementary feeds and processing agricultural by-products, and the animal feed industry; converting a portion of agricultural land to produce animal feed raw materials to meet domestic needs and reduce imports.
Priority tasks and projects include: Assessing the technological level and proposing solutions for improving industrial animal feed production technology; developing the supplementary feed production industry; developing the industry for producing, processing, and preserving agricultural and industrial by-products for animal feed; and developing raw material production areas for animal feed.
