High on drugs, robbed a taxi and drove the wrong way, causing chaos on the street

On the morning of January 25, the police team investigating crimes related to social order of District 3 Police, Ho Chi Minh City, said they were detaining Chau Khac Thanh (22 years old, residing in Thanh Hoa province) to investigate the act of robbery.

Before that, at around 1am, the Tan Son Nhat Traffic Police team was on duty to prevent gatherings of motorcyclists causing public disorder and illegal racing in the area.

While on duty at the intersection of Nguyen Van Troi - Hoang Van Thu (Ward 1, Tan Binh District), the task force received a report that a taxi involved in a robbery was fleeing on the road.

About 3 minutes later, Lieutenant Truong Manh Cuong (Tan Son Nhat Traffic Police) and Sergeant Vo Nguyen Hoang Minh Tuan (mobile police) were patrolling and checking when they discovered a taxi going in the opposite direction from Phan Dinh Giot Street to Hoang Van Thu Street.

Seeing the dangerous behavior, both of them got into a special vehicle to chase. The taxi also accelerated and drove in the opposite direction on Hoang Van Thu street to Cong Hoa overpass.

Realizing that this could be the car involved in the previous robbery, Lieutenant Cuong reported to the unit and continued to use special vehicles to fiercely chase.

While fleeing from Hoang Van Thu Street, Cong Hoa to Truong Chinh Street, the taxi continuously swerved, squeezed the special vehicle and many other vehicles, causing chaos on the street.

After a while of chasing, with the support of the people, the taxi was stopped at the intersection of Truong Chinh - Pham Van Bach (Ward 15, Tan Binh District).

Asked by the traffic police to get out of the car, the "crazy driver" lingered in the car for a while. Afterwards, the police appeared with the traffic police and took this person to the police station of Ward 15 (Tan Binh District) for questioning.

At the police station of Ward 15 (Tan Binh District), the "speed demon" gave his name as Chau Khac Thanh (22 years old, living in Thanh Hoa province).

At the same time, District 3 police confirmed that Chau Khac Thanh had previously taken advantage of a taxi driver's negligence to steal a taxi and flee from Ward 7 (District 3) to Tan Binh District.

In addition, District 3 Police also tested Chau Khac Thanh for drugs and the results found Thanh positive for amphetamine (crystal meth).

Through verification, District 3 police said Chau Khac Thanh left Thanh Hoa to live in Ho Chi Minh City more than a month ago.
