Laughing out loud at the 5-year-old daughter's essay 'hating the whole family'
In her homework, the little girl wrote that she hated her father, mother, sister, and even her pet dog because they were annoying.
Natalie Fowler, 33, was at the playground when her daughter Isla’s teacher approached her and asked if she had read her homework. When she returned home, the mother of two from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, immediately checked Isla’s essay.
She was shocked when her 5-year-old daughter wrote that she hated her father, mother, sister and even her pet dog because they made her upset.
The homework assignment included a picture of Isla's parents, sister, and pet dog. |
Natalie asked her daughter about what she wrote in her homework, but Isla didn't answer, she just smiled, making her mother laugh too. Then Natalie asked, "Do you really feel 'hate' towards everyone?"
Now Isla had a confession: to complete her practice with the rhyme "oy," she had to use the word "annoying." This negative vocabulary word wasn't what Isla wanted to say about her family, but it was the only word she knew how to spell "oy."

Natalie returned to Isla's school the next day to explain to the teacher about her daughter's humorous assignment.
"When I went back to Isla's school the next day and told her the reason, her teacher and I laughed a lot. The truth was completely different from what Isla wrote in her writing assignment. This was definitely her funniest assignment yet," Natalie shared.
Natalie told this story to her friends and relatives, making them laugh, but not surprised because Isla is a funny girl. Under the 5-year-old's homework, the teacher commented: "I hope this is not correct."
Isla is considered a funny and cheerful girl. |
