Car parking fees in Ho Chi Minh City proposed to be up to 40,000 VND per hour
Cars parked on the streets of central Saigon can cost 40,000 VND per hour during the day, and 180,000 VND if parked overnight.
In the project to collect fees for temporarily parking cars on the roadway and sidewalk, just completed by the HCM City Department of Transport, the fee will increase by up to 8 times and will be calculated by the hour, not by turn as before.
The highest proposed fee is 40,000 VND per hour, overnight up to 180,000 VND (equal to six trips of the first hour), while the current fee is 5,000 VND per trip.
The new fee is 10-20% higher than the parking fee in the parking lots and basements of shopping malls, high-rise buildings, offices, etc. and is equivalent to the parking fee in Hanoi.

The Department of Transport has established a fee applicable to two groups: cars with up to 9 seats; trucks under 1.5 tons and cars with 10 seats; trucks over 1.5 tons to under 2.5 tons. The fee is also calculated to increase progressively by the hour, not by turn as it is now.
The city currently has 35 streets that allow parking on the street. Depending on traffic safety conditions, the City People's Committee will adjust the streets and sidewalks that allow parking. In case there are new streets that allow parking, the parking fee will be the same as in District 10 and 11.
If the project is approved, the city is expected to earn 31 billion VND per month from just the 35 streets where parking is allowed. The use of this money, as well as the ratio of the units, will be calculated by the Department of Transport and related units.
The project will be reviewed at the City Fatherland Front Committee before being submitted to competent authorities.

According to the Department of Transport, the fee for using the road in districts 1, 3, and 5 (VND5,000 per turn) to park cars is too low, leading to many cases of taking advantage of turning the roadside into a parking lot for a long time.
The Department has proposed a fee for parking on the street in area 1 (districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, Tan Binh, Phu Nhuan) for cars under 10 seats of 20,000 VND per vehicle during the day; 40,000 VND at night. Cars over 10 seats are 25,000 VND during the day, 50,000 VND at night.
In the remaining districts, the fee is 15,000 VND per trip during the day and 30,000 VND at night.
However, this project was forced to be redone in more detail and specificity.
