The movie 'Let Go' brings together a star-studded cast, revealing dramatic roles
The TV series "Buong" by director-screenwriter Mai Long has just had its premiere, attracting attention when gathering a cast of veteran artists and especially the first participation of People's Artist Hoai Thu, the youngest artist in the Cheo village to be awarded the title of People's Artist. The work carries a profound humanistic message, revolving around the conflicts between good and evil, fame and humanity in contemporary society. The film is expected to air on VTV5 on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2026.
"Letting Go" tells the story of the turbulent life of Tinh (Thanh Huyen), a single woman who left her hometown to work as a masseuse in the city to raise her children. After her marriage to Hung (Phung Duc Hieu) broke down, she faced many new pitfalls and tragedies. Hung is the son of Mr. Manh (People's Artist Quoc Anh) and Mrs. Oanh (People's Artist Hoai Thu), a wealthy and powerful family.

The film brings together many veteran faces of the Vietnamese screen. People's Artist Thu Que plays the role of Lyly's mother, a shrewd, pragmatic woman who is revealed to be the "final boss" behind many conspiracies, pushing the main character's life into tragedy. In addition, the film also has the participation of People's Artist Tien Dat, People's Artist Quoc Tri, Meritorious Artist Tien Quang (Quang Teo), Meritorious Artist Doi Quan and artist Kim Xuyen.
The first time Cheo artists enter cinema
One of the special highlights of "Buong" is that director Mai Long boldly invited cheo artists to participate in the project. People's Artist Hoai Thu, who was awarded the title of People's Artist at the age of 40, immediately accepted to play the role of Mrs. Oanh. This is the first TV role of her career.

In addition, the main role of Tinh was also given to Thanh Huyen, a new face also from the Cheo stage. According to the director, the humanistic message of the script was the factor that convinced the artists to accept the invitation to participate.
Humanistic message and challenging production process
Director Mai Long shared: "Letting Go is not only a woman's story but also a mirror reflecting today's life - where people must learn to let go of pain to keep humanity." He hopes that the audience will find empathy and belief in kindness when watching the film.

To complete the film, the crew had to face many difficulties, especially in the setting. Unable to find a suitable house by the river, the crew had to build a bamboo house themselves, but this process was constantly affected by storms.
Artist Quang Teo, who plays a veteran, expressed his emotion at being able to work on a project that brings together 5 People’s Artists and 4 Meritorious Artists. He said this is a rare opportunity to relive the emotions of a soldier and contribute to a meaningful work.
