Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee: Need to harmonize economic development and cultural construction

On the morning of May 24, the Provincial Party Standing Committee worked with the Central Propaganda Department's working delegation to review the 5-year implementation of Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the Central Executive Committee (11th tenure) on "Building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development".

Comrade Le Manh Hung - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Head of the working delegation and Comrade Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council chaired the meeting. Building a comprehensively developed Nghe An culture and people

According to the general assessment, in recent times, in Nghe An, the leadership, direction and organization of the implementation of Resolution 33 from the province to the grassroots have been carried out seriously and effectively. Party committees and authorities at all levels have paid attention and taken responsibility in carrying out the task of cultural development.

With the goal of building a comprehensively developed culture and people of Nghe An, aiming for truth - goodness - beauty, imbued with the spirit of nationalism, humanity, democracy, science and cultural traditions of the homeland, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee has focused on leading and directing the implementation of basic tasks and solutions stated in the Resolution.

Thanks to that, the awareness of cadres, party members and people in the cultural field is increasingly enhanced. The gap in cultural enjoyment between regions, between urban and rural areas is narrowed, contributing to preventing and repelling moral degeneration and degradation in society...

Besides, there are still some limitations and weaknesses in the implementation of Resolution 33 in the province such as: the leadership and direction of some Party committees and local authorities in the cultural field is not resolute and does not closely follow the content of the Resolution; State management of the cultural field in some localities is still inadequate; the socialization of cultural activities is not widespread.

Besides, the degradation of lifestyle ethics, professional ethics and social evils is showing signs of not decreasing... These are issues that Nghe An has identified that need to be resolved in the coming time.

At the working session, the opinions of the members of the working group acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and positive results that Nghe An has achieved in the process of implementing Resolution 33. Some contents related to aspects of financial investment for culture, socialization of resources for culture, management and promotion of the role of the press in building and developing cultural people... were raised by the working group and clarified by representatives of relevant provincial departments, branches and sectors.

Economic development needs to be in harmony with culture.

Speaking at the working session, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Xuan Son affirmed the importance of two channels of influencing and adjusting human behavior: public opinion on ethics and law.

“We hope that all levels and sectors will create ethical public opinion and at the same time build a rule-of-law society, both perfecting the law and enforcing the law to prevent and stop moral and lifestyle degradation,” comrade Nguyen Xuan Son suggested to the working delegation.

According to the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, the environment that has the strongest impact on people today is the information environment, but this is a very complex and difficult environment to handle. Information is widespread on social networks, and some people tend to read sensational information more than official information, making it difficult to orient and manage the information environment.

“Because too much negative information is being disseminated, it is easy for many people to misunderstand the nature of society and lose faith in it. We must wonder why life is better now but culture is deteriorating,” comrade Nguyen Xuan Son worried.

Nghe An province's leaders further emphasized the current situation of focusing on economic development but not paying attention to synchronizing and being in harmony with culture. For example, the new rural construction movement, in addition to taking care of infrastructure, needs to preserve the soul of the countryside, and the culture of the village must be different from urban culture.

Citing some countries whose economic life has not really developed but are still listed as livable countries, comrade Nguyen Xuan Son affirmed that it is necessary to harmonize economic development with preserving and promoting culture.

Concluding the working session, comrade Le Manh Hung - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department highly appreciated Nghe An province for organizing the dissemination and serious implementation of the Central Resolution in many fields.

In the context of the information explosion, both negative and positive information, affecting cultural awareness, polarization among people taking place very fiercely in terms of rich and poor, awareness..., comrade Le Manh Hung said that it is necessary to base on that to build appropriate plans, apply global thinking, and take local actions to suit reality.

The Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department suggested that Nghe An province continue to educate cadres, party members and people about the role of cultural and human development in the overall development of society.
