On September 13, the Provincial Party Committee's inspection delegation led by Comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee had a working session with the Nghe An Provincial Police Party Committee on the implementation results of Resolution No. 03 - NQ/TU dated April 29, 2016 of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on strengthening drug prevention and control in the province for the period 2016 - 2020.

In the period of 2016 - 2019, the crime and drug situation in Nghe An province has raised some notable issues: Many drug trafficking, transportation and smuggling lines, especially synthetic drugs, were discovered across the Vietnam - Laos border into Nghe An for consumption or transit to other localities for consumption.

Major General Nguyen Huu Cau - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Provincial Police Department spoke at the working session with the inspection delegation of the Provincial Party Committee.

Although the situation of some groups of people carrying hot weapons to secretly organize illegal drug trafficking in border areas has decreased, it is still latent, and the methods and tricks are increasingly sophisticated and aggressive. The number of drug addicts has decreased, but there are still many with 6,823 addicts with management records. The number of addicts tends to be younger and gradually switches to using synthetic drugs that cause strong hallucinations and then commit other crimes...

Nghe An Provincial Police have used synchronous professional measures, strengthened the work of grasping the situation, concentrated forces, effectively fought against crime and drug abuse in the area, destroyed drug lines, organizations, and complex drug hotspots; prevented drug smuggling across the border, did a good job of eliminating complex drug hotspots and areas and proactively prevented them from becoming complicated again...
