Disseminate the Coastal Resources Project (CRSD)
(Baonghean.vn) - From June 11th to 14th, in Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu district) and Dien Kim commune (Dien Chau district), the Nghe An Fisheries Exploitation and Protection Sub-Department, in coordination with the CRSD Project Management Board, organized a conference to disseminate information on the Coastal Resources for Sustainable Development (CRSD) Project.
(Baonghean.vn) - From June 11th to 14th, in Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu district) and Dien Kim commune (Dien Chau district), the Nghe An Fisheries Exploitation and Protection Sub-Department, in coordination with the CRSD Project Management Board, organized a conference to disseminate information on the Coastal Resources for Sustainable Development (CRSD) Project.
The conference was attended by over 100 delegates, including leaders of the Party Committee; People's Committee; Fatherland Front Committee; heads of various organizations, departments, and associations; heads of fishing associations; representatives of the border guard at Quynh Thuan (Quynh Luu) and Dien Thanh (Dien Chau) posts; secretaries, village heads, and captains of inshore fishing vessels in Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu) and Dien Kim commune (Dien Chau).

At the conference, lecturers conveyed basic information about the Nghe An CRSD Project, the current state of fisheries in Nghe An province and a comparison with the state of fisheries in Nghe An 10 years ago; the development trends of fisheries; the importance of fisheries resources and the steps to establish a co-management model for coastal fisheries; the necessity of building a co-management model for coastal fisheries; monitoring, controlling, and supervising MCS; the importance of the community in co-management; sustainable fisheries management; the benefits of community participation in co-management; and skills in reaching common agreements for community implementation.
Through the conference, the coastal fishing community understood co-management of fisheries, the importance of aquatic resources, why community-based fisheries management is necessary, and simultaneously enhanced the community's awareness of law enforcement, access to and processing of information, as well as the coordination mechanism between the people and local authorities and specialized agencies.
The Coastal Resources for Sustainable Development (CRSD) Project, funded by a World Bank loan, has been signed. The overall objective of the Project is to improve the sustainable management of coastal fisheries in coastal provinces. This objective is achieved through: strengthening the institutional capacity of the fisheries sector in the sustainable management of resources; promoting good practices in sustainable aquaculture; and implementing good practices for the sustainability of coastal fisheries.
