Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Public Security inspects Methadone treatment in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - As of August 31, 2019, the total number of patients in the province treated with Methadone was 2,761 (reaching 81% of the target assigned by the Government) and the total number of patients currently being treated was 1,092 (reaching 32% of the target assigned by the Government).
On the morning of September 26, the inter-sectoral working group of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control, led by Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen - Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Head of the inter-sectoral working group, worked with the Department of Health on Methadone treatment in the province.

Currently, there are 12 treatment facilities and 16 methadone dispensing facilities in the province. As of August 31, 2019, the total number of patients registered for treatment was 3,313. The total number of patients treated was 2,761 (81% of the target assigned by the Government) and the total number of patients currently being treated was 1,092 (32% of the target assigned by the Government).
At the meeting, leaders of Nghe An Health Department also pointed out difficulties such as lack of local resources, staff working at Methadone treatment facilities mainly holding part-time jobs, while activities at Methadone treatment facilities are specific. Speaking at the meeting, Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen acknowledged and praised the efforts of Nghe An province in drug addiction treatment and requested that facilities coordinate with the police to forecast the situation well, not be subjective, and limit complications if they occur; actively test for HIV/AIDS for new students. At the same time, continue to apply advanced techniques in drug addiction treatment, along with encouraging students' spirit, helping students feel secure to continue drug addiction treatment. With the proposed difficulties, we will absorb them to propose to the levels and sectors to soon have support solutions.
