Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council leaves open the possibility of using nuclear weapons for defense

This is done not only by mobilizing military personnel, but also by using any types of Russian weapons, including strategic nuclear weapons, to protect the population, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said.
Referendums on joining Russia will be held from September 23-27 in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
"Russia has declared that it will mobilize not only human resources, but also any weapons, including strategic nuclear weapons and weapons based on new principles, to protect itself," Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation in Ukraine. He stressed that Moscow's plans do not include the occupation of Ukraine, but are aimed only at the demilitarization and defascization of Ukraine. Western countries have imposed a series of sanctions against the Russian Federation. The UN General Assembly suspended Russia's participation in the UN Human Rights Council.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Armed Forces attacked only the military infrastructure and the army of Ukraine, and as of March 25, they had completed the main tasks of the first stage - significantly reducing the combat potential of Ukraine. On April 19, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced the start of the next stage of the special operation.
