Liga vice-president Tebas admits to match-fixing.
Javier Tebas, vice president of the Spanish Professional Football League (LFP), has confirmed that several matches in the country have been fixed.
Tebas's statement came just weeks after a Europol investigation revealed that 680 football matches worldwide were rigged, but none took place in Spain.
In an interview with radio station Cadena Cope, he stated that the problem in Spain usually occurs at the end of the season with guaranteed results favoring certain teams, and is not as heavily related to match-fixing as the Europol investigation suggests.

Javier Tebas, vice president of the Spanish Professional Football League (LFP), has confirmed that several matches in the country have been fixed.
"Yes, there are match-fixing incidents in Spain, and you know that. We cannot deny that this is a very serious problem."
"It's a minority issue, but it's very serious."
"In Spain, match-fixing isn't about betting, but about the final league position. It might only involve two or three matches, but they're all very important."
Tebas went even further, claiming he had spoken with a player who had been propositioned to fix matches.
"The players or directors will tell you, but they don't want to go to court. A player in the first division told me, and we don't need to deny its existence."
"A key informant told me that his teammate had said there were matches that were rigged."
"Anyone who violates the rules and is caught by us will go to jail."
Tebas also commented on the financial situation of many Spanish clubs and believes that Deportivo la Coruna could go bankrupt if they are relegated this season. Deportivo are currently bottom of the table, eight points behind safety.
“In the next few months or a year, a club could disappear. I see two teams that are in a very difficult situation.”
“Deportivo could be a candidate for this position in the next two or three years if they don’t pay off their debts. If you’re in the first division, you can still cope with the debt, but if you sink deeper into debt, it will be very difficult.”
