Vice President affirms national sovereignty at Sea and Island Week
The Vice President requested that central and local ministries, branches, and organizations continue to affirm the viewpoint that national sovereignty is supreme and inviolable.
On the morning of June 8, in Ca Mau, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) coordinated with the People's Committee of Ca Mau province to organize a rally in response to "Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2017" and to celebrate World Oceans Day. Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh attended and delivered the opening speech at the rally.

Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2017 takes place from June 1 to 8. This is the 9th consecutive year that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has presided over and coordinated with ministries, branches and localities to launch the "Vietnam Sea and Islands Week".
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh welcomed and commended the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for coordinating with Ca Mau province to organize this important ceremony.
The Vice President noted that it is necessary to implement policies to support fishermen, develop, exploit, catch offshore seafood and protect the aquatic environment in conjunction with protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands. It is necessary to care for improving the material and spiritual life, promptly solving urgent problems of the people. Ensuring social security to improve the welfare of people in coastal and island areas.
The Vice President suggested that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment should soon complete the development of a sea use plan until 2050 and an implementation plan for the 2017-2025 period to submit to the Government and the National Assembly for approval. “Resolutely protect the territory and sovereignty of the sea and islands. National sovereignty is inviolable. Generations of Vietnamese people have devoted countless efforts and blood to protect it. Therefore, today’s and future generations have the responsibility to preserve and firmly protect every inch of that sacred land, sea and island,” the Vice President emphasized.

At the ceremony, the Vice President presented a gift worth 100 million VND, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province presented a medicine cabinet worth 50 million VND to Hon Chuoi Border Guard Station.
