Thong Thu Border Post is located in Thong Thu commune, Que Phong district, and is assigned to manage and protect 33.737 km of national border and 9 landmarks; in charge of Thong Thu border commune, including 8 villages, with a total population of 1,147 households/4,895 people, with 99% being Thai ethnic people.

The unit has thoroughly and synchronously implemented border work measures, proactively grasped the internal and external border situation, firmly protected border security and sovereignty in the assigned area; ensured that the system of border signs, border markers, border area signs, and border belts remained intact.

The station plays a good role in ensuring security and order in the border area; advises local Party committees and authorities and coordinates with functional forces to promptly resolve and handle incidents occurring in the area, not allowing them to become complicated, prolonged, and form "hot spots".

At the same time, effectively combating all types of crimes, especially drug crimes; from the beginning of 2023 to now, the Station has fought and destroyed 2 drug trafficking cases, arresting 3 subjects.

Thong Thu Border Guard Station has actively participated in building and consolidating the grassroots political system, promoting the effectiveness of cadres strengthening the commune to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, and party members participating in activities at village and hamlet Party cells. Thereby, advising the Party Committee and local authorities to build and consolidate grassroots politics, strengthen national defense and security, and help people develop the economy, culture and society.

In particular, the Station focuses on helping people convert crops and livestock, build and develop household economic models such as growing oranges, grapefruits, mangoes, raising rabbits, etc., which have initially developed well; handing over 16 buffaloes to people to raise, each worth 28 million VND.

Along with that, implementing the program to mobilize and support the construction of houses for poor households and households facing housing difficulties in the province, officers and soldiers of Thong Thu Border Guard Station participated in helping people build 16 houses in Que Phong district.

In addition, the Station adopted 4 children studying under the "Helping Children Go to School" Program and 3 students (2 Vietnamese, 1 Lao) under the "Adopted Children of Border Guard Station" Program, each child receives 500,000 VND/month.

Thong Thu Border Guard Station has effectively carried out border diplomacy and people's diplomacy, maintaining good solidarity and friendship between the two sides of the border in the area under its charge.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly requested that officers and soldiers of Thong Thu Border Guard Station continue to thoroughly grasp the Resolutions of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense, Border Guard Command Party Committee, Provincial Party Committee on building and developing socio-economy in combination with ensuring national defense and security in border areas and concretize them into appropriate programs and plans of the station.

Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong suggested that officers and soldiers of Thong Thu Border Post continue to perform well the three functions of our army: combat army, working army and production army.

“Comrades must be closely attached to the people,” Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong emphasized. “Consider the border as your home, and the people of all ethnic groups as your fathers and mothers; you must do so from your heart and soul, not by shouting slogans.”

To effectively carry out the function of mass mobilization, officers and soldiers of Thong Thu Border Post must fully grasp the economic and social development programs and participate in building mechanisms and policies with the locality and the State; at the same time, directly concretize them within the scope of their capabilities, powers and tasks. Thereby, contributing to poverty reduction, improving living standards, building new rural areas, and developing the economy and society.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly also proposed building a clean and strong Party Committee of the Station, a strong and comprehensive unit; continuing to thoroughly implement the assignment of border guards to become deputy secretaries of the Party Committee at the commune level and cadres and soldiers who are Party members to participate in activities at the Party cells of villages and hamlets.

Also in Thong Thu commune, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly visited and presented gifts to officers and soldiers of Thong Thu Border Guard Station on duty at Muong Phu Border Control Station, Thong Thu Border Gate and the Laotian police force on duty at the border gate.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly listened to the report on the activities of the Control Station, as well as the coordination between the functional forces of the two countries; thereby, he acknowledged, commended and requested the functional forces of the two sides to continue to strengthen information exchange, coordinate tasks well, foster solidarity and friendship, and create favorable conditions for people on both sides of the border to travel, trade, visit relatives, and receive medical examination and treatment in accordance with the law.
