Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long: Scientific research needs to be more practical.

On the afternoon of December 26, the Department of Science and Technology summarized the science and technology activities in 2019 and deployed tasks for 2020. Attending the conference were comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches, and sectors; districts and cities.

In 2019, the cadres, civil servants and public employees of the entire science and technology sector were united, dynamic, creative, performed well the assigned tasks and achieved many encouraging results. The sector implemented a total of 65 science and technology topics and projects managed by the Department.

In the agricultural sector, research has been applied and transferred to improve the productivity and quality of livestock and crops.

Up to now, the application of electronic traceability stamps has been extended to over 70 agricultural products of the province, contributing to increasing the value chain of agricultural products, raising producers' awareness of product quality, while protecting the reputation and developing the brand of Nghe An agricultural products.

In the medical field, outstanding achievements in research and application have contributed to good public health care; continuing to maintain, consolidate, develop and perfect advanced techniques in examination and treatment for the people.

Also in the past year, many activities and topics applying science and technology to preserve, restore and develop medicinal plants have increased the experimental and economic value of many types of plants, contributing to promoting the commercial potential of medicinal plants in Nghe An.

The results and research topics in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities have delved into solutions to improve the efficiency and replicate new cooperative models in Nghe An province; solutions to mobilize resources from Nghe An people at home and abroad to contribute to the socio-economic development of the province.

In the field of information technology, many topics and projects applying IT have been implemented to support industries and businesses. Deploying conservation, exploitation and development of biodiversity, rare gene pools to promote the value of the Western Nghe An Biosphere Reserve.

State management activities on standards, measurements and product quality in the province have been focused on and promoted. The effectiveness of this work is clearly demonstrated in the role of state management on product quality. In 2019, the Department of Science and Technology conducted 17 inspections and examined 307 establishments; the total amount of fines for violating establishments was over 1 billion VND.

Along with that, state management activities on science and technology have had many positive changes in all fields. The startup and innovation ecosystem in the province has achieved positive results. Science and technology application activities in districts and cities have been effectively implemented.

Scientific research needs to be practical.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long assessed: 2019 was a successful year for the province's Science and Technology sector; the sector had many innovations in specialized activities, scientific research topics were highly practical, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.

Emphasizing that in the coming time, the need to apply science and technology to life will be much higher, so the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that the provincial science and technology sector should focus on further improving the practicality of scientific research projects so that more and more topics and research projects can be applied and put into practice to improve productivity and quality of products serving life and production.

Appreciating the Department of Science and Technology as the leading unit in administrative reform in Nghe An, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that the Department will further strengthen this work, thereby creating a spillover effect to departments, branches and localities in the province.

Besides, the Department needs to continue to do better in appraisal, measurement, inspection, and create a healthy competitive environment for businesses so that people can consume high-quality products.
