Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee: 'Need to carefully calculate the time to release water from Ve Vung Lake'
(Baonghean.vn) -After the inspection, comrade Dinh Viet Hong requested the Ve Vung Lake Management Board to monitor, be on duty regularly and carefully calculate the time to release water to ensure the safety of the dam and downstream area.
On the afternoon of October 14, comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the working delegation continued to inspect Ve Vung dam in Dong Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district to proactively cope with the approaching storm No. 11.
Ve Vung Dam is located 7km west of Yen Thanh town, with a capacity of over 20 million m3.3water, located in the communes of Dong Thanh, Kim Thanh, Quang Thanh. This is one of the largest irrigation lakes in Nghe An.

Due to heavy rains in recent times, on October 10, the water level in Ve Vung Lake rose. However, in the last 2 days, the water level began to recede rapidly and gradually returned to a stable level.
On the morning of October 14, the water level at Ve Vung Dam was at 29.12m, and by 11am had dropped to 28.98m. This water level was about 30cm higher than the spillway level, currently at alert level 1.

To proactively cope with the situation of flood on flood and the approaching storm No. 11, Ve Vung Lake Management Board has developed plans to deal with bad weather such as increasing the number of personnel on duty and regularly monitoring to assess the water level at the lake.
In addition, actively propagate and advise people not to fish around the lake. Together with local authorities in the downstream area, notify water levels and weather developments so that people can proactively respond.

On behalf of the inspection team, comrade Dinh Viet Hong praised the proactive work in water regulation at Ve Vung Lake and encouraged the forces on duty at the lake during the recent heavy rain.
After the inspection, comrade Dinh Viet Hong requested the Ve Vung reservoir management board to monitor, be on duty regularly and carefully calculate the time to release water to ensure the safety of the dam and downstream area. Proactively arrange 24/7 guarding to quickly grasp any bad situations that may occur.
Yen Thanh currently has more than 200 large and small dams, therefore, comrade Dinh Viet Hong requested the district to proactively regulate water in the dams and lakes, not to be subjective with the weather. He emphasized that this year's rainy and stormy season is complicated, storms appearing at the end of the year often form super storms, so Yen Thanh district must strongly propagate to each locality and people to raise the spirit of proactively responding to bad weather, especially when storm No. 11 is approaching./.
