Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspects spring rice production.
"Focus on taking good care of rice fields and spring crops, linking production with processing to increase the value of agricultural production" is the directive of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De.
On February 6th, Mr. Nguyen Van De, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, inspected agricultural production in Do Luong and Anh Son districts. He was accompanied by leaders from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In the spring of 2025, Do Luong district planted nearly 8,500 hectares of rice. Currently, the rice has taken root, and farmers are focusing on thinning, fertilizing, and providing the first round of care. After inspecting the spring rice production, Comrade Nguyen Van De visited a clean vegetable farm in Tan Son commune that produces organic vegetables according to VietGAP standards. With an area of 6,000 m³ and a modern production process, this farm currently supplies clean vegetables to school cafeterias in the district.

As of February 2nd, Anh Son district had planted 3,261 hectares of rice, reaching 97% of the plan; 537 hectares of corn out of a planned 2,032 hectares and 51 hectares of peanuts out of a planned 103 hectares. Generally, all major spring crops are adhering to the planting schedule and closely following the plan; some crops have not yet completed their planting areas, but the planting schedule is not yet finished. Currently, sugarcane harvesting is underway, as well as new planting of sugarcane and cassava for raw materials.

Working with the provincial delegation, Anh Son district also proposed and requested support for people affected by the destruction of pigs infected with African swine fever during the 2021-2024 period; and requested the Provincial People's Committee to provide cement under the new rural development mechanism and other programs earlier than in previous years so that the locality can conveniently arrange for the timely construction of projects within the year.

Inspecting the sugarcane cultivation model on alluvial land, Comrade Nguyen Van De highly appreciated the application of scientific and technical advancements and the introduction of advanced sugarcane varieties into production, which has helped to increase productivity and value. Currently, the entire district has 1,200 hectares of sugarcane, with an average yield of 75 quintals/hectare, of which more than 700 hectares in the raw material area of Song Lam Sugarcane Company are planted with the LK9211 sugarcane variety, achieving a yield of 130 quintals/hectare. With a capacity of 500 tons of sugarcane/day, Song Lam Sugar Factory is currently focusing on purchasing raw materials from the people.

In Anh Son district, the delegation also inspected the tea plantation model in Tam Dinh commune and visited the green pumpkin cultivation model in Cam Son commune. This year's winter-spring crop in Anh Son district saw the planting of over 400 hectares of pumpkins, with a yield of 30 quintals per sao (approximately 300 kg per 1000 square meters), which were sold at a relatively high price of 9,000 to 10,000 VND per kilogram.

After the inspection, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De requested the agricultural sector and local authorities to: Focus on caring for rice and other spring crops, with irrigation units ensuring sufficient water supply for farmers to care for their rice crops. Closely monitor the development of pests and diseases to take timely control measures, and continue to eradicate rats and golden apple snails.

“The agricultural sector and localities need effective solutions, replicating high-tech agricultural production models; linking production with processing, and producing in a chain to ensure stable consumption, limit the situation of bumper harvests leading to price drops, and increase the value per unit of production. Focus on introducing advanced varieties to improve the productivity and quality of raw materials,” the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed.
