Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De directed the reinforcement and safety of Hung Dao dike.
Leaders of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee inspected Hung Dao dike and flooding situation in Vinh city, Nghi Loc, Hung Nguyen.
On the afternoon of September 23, comrade Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee led a working delegation to inspect the flooding situation in Hung Nguyen and Nghi Loc districts and Vinh City. Accompanying him were comrade Phung Thanh Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and other departments and units.

In Hung Nguyen district, the working group inspected the Hung Dao embankment in Hung Dao commune. Due to prolonged rain, the river water rose and was at risk of overflowing the embankment, affecting local residents as well as hundreds of hectares of crops. Currently, Hung Nguyen district has mobilized machinery and human resources to reinforce the embankment and informed local residents to prepare a response plan.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De requested Hung Nguyen district and units to concentrate highly, speed up the repair and reinforcement of dikes to ensure safety, absolutely not allowing dike breaches like in 2022, especially during times of heavy rains combined with water regulation upstream that can cause the river water level to rise further; Hung Nguyen district assigned forces to be on duty 24/7 to quickly handle any situations that arise.

In Vinh City, Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected all pumping stations and drainage culverts in the area, including: Nam Vinh pumping station, Tay Nam Vinh pumping station, pumping station No. 3, drainage culvert behind Vinh market, Ben Thuy wharf, regulating drainage culvert, Hoi Cong culvert (Hung Hoa)... Currently, the pumping stations are operating continuously to drain water for Vinh city.

Comrade Nguyen Van De requested the city government and functional units to be on duty and operate pumping stations according to regulations, with machine capacity appropriate to the actual situation, to promptly drain water for Vinh City, especially vulnerable areas.
Prepare manpower, materials, vehicles, machinery, and equipment to proactively and promptly handle situations when heavy rains occur and cause widespread flooding. In particular, there needs to be a radical solution to handle the current situation of water hyacinth blocking drainage culverts.

In Nghi Loc district, the working group inspected the current status of Bara Nghi Quang. The project was built in 1992, with the function of preventing salinity, preserving fresh water, and irrigating 23,000 hectares of rice in Nam Dan, Nghi Loc, Hung Nguyen districts and Vinh city.

After more than 30 years of operation, the project has seriously degraded. The system of lifting and lowering valves and sluice gates is mostly rusted, leading to saltwater intrusion during the hot season and the inability to actively drain floods during the rainy season.
