After decades of use, the gate of the Ben Thuy Bara sluice gate was broken, causing difficulties for the Southern irrigation system in preventing salinity and preserving fresh water.

Directing at the scene, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate, remove difficulties, overcome incidents, and have plans to ensure safety during the storm season, especially with the risk of storm No. 3 gradually approaching the mainland.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Nguyen Van De inspected the operation of the Nghi Quang sluice. Built and put into use for decades, the project's drainage capacity is currently ineffective.
Faced with the deterioration of the project, the management unit has also had solutions to temporarily fix the problems to ensure drainage.

Next, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Nguyen Van De inspected the Lach Van storm shelter area located in Dien Chau commune, which can accommodate about 650 fishing boats.
Recently, the waterways leading to and from Lach Van fishing port and the storm shelter have been seriously silted up, making it difficult for fishermen's boats to move and even causing accidents.
The silting has been going on for about 15 years now and has gotten worse in recent years.

Also on the afternoon of July 20, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the working delegation inspected Dien Thanh sluice. This is a project within the Bac Nghe An irrigation system, the sluice has the task of draining and reducing flooding for 15,000 hectares of low-lying areas of Yen Thanh and Dien Chau communes during the rainy season, as well as preventing salinity and keeping fresh water during the dry season.

After inspecting the construction sites, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De requested the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, localities and units to focus on the prevention of storm No. 3. Absolutely do not be subjective or negligent. Implement the plan "4 on-site", "3 ready".

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested communes and wards to arrange and anchor fishermen's boats to ensure safety, prevent collisions and effectively prevent fires and explosions.
Absolutely do not let people stay on cages, aquaculture huts, and boats, to ensure maximum safety when storms directly affect and heavy rains and floods occur.
In necessary cases, it is necessary to proactively enforce evacuation to ensure the safety of people's lives.

Proactively organize the evacuation of people from unsafe houses, areas at risk of deep flooding and landslides, especially at river mouths and coastal areas. Closely monitor forecast information and developments of storms, rains and floods, promptly direct and deploy response work according to the "4 on-site" motto according to assigned tasks and authority; avoid being passive or surprised, in order to ensure safety of life and minimize property damage to people.
