Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Phung Thanh Vinh worked with leaders of Busan city (South Korea)

On the afternoon of September 19, within the framework of a working trip to Korea, a Vietnamese delegation including representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy - Ministry of Foreign Affairs and localities of Nghe An, Quang Tri, and Tay Ninh had a working session with leaders of Busan city.

The Vietnamese delegation was represented by Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee.

Also attending the meeting were Ms. Doan Phuong Lan - Consul General of Vietnam in Busan, representatives of departments, branches and enterprises of neighboring provinces.

Welcoming and working with the delegation from Busan city, Korea were Mr. Lim Chung Sung - Deputy Mayor of Busan city and leaders of functional departments of the city.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh expressed his gratitude for the warm and respectful welcome of Busan city government.

He emphasized that the upgrading of Vietnam and Korea to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership from 2022 has opened up new opportunities for localities to promote substantive and effective cooperation, especially with Busan - Korea's leading center of maritime economy, trade, services, and tourism.

On behalf of the Vietnamese delegation, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province highly appreciated the dynamic development of Busan - one of the largest international seaports in the world, and also a center of finance, science - technology and education.

These are all areas that Vietnamese localities, including Nghe An, are very interested in and wish to expand cooperation.

At the working session, the Vietnamese delegation proposed four main cooperation directions with Busan:

The first, on investment and trade: Promote cooperation in the fields of high-tech agriculture, processing industry, green energy, logistics and supporting industry. Nghe An, Quang Tri and Tay Ninh provinces are ready to receive investment projects, creating favorable conditions for infrastructure and administrative procedures.

Monday, on tourism and people-to-people exchange: Propose opening direct flights between Busan and Vietnamese localities; organize cultural and tourism weeks to promote images and connect people of the two countries.

Tuesday,on education, science and technology: Strengthen cooperation between universities and research institutes of Busan and Vietnam; promote student and lecturer exchanges and scientific research.

Wednesday,Regarding Culture and Sports: Exploiting the strength of Busan as the "cinema capital" of Korea to expand exchanges in art, cinema, music, and sports; at the same time, caring for and connecting the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in Busan.

Mr. Lim Chung Sung - Vice Mayor of Busan City emphasized: Vietnam is a leading important partner of Korea in Southeast Asia. The upgrading of the relationship between the two countries to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has opened a favorable framework for Busan and Vietnamese localities to implement many practical cooperation projects, especially in Busan's strong fields such as tourism, logistics, shipbuilding industry, marine economy and digital technology.

In particular, through the introduction of Nghe An province, Mr. Lim Chung Sung highly appreciated the potential for cooperation and expansion of relations between the two sides. He said that in the coming time, Busan will increase the promotion and introduction of Nghe An province; at the same time, he suggested studying the opening of more flights to promote tourism.

In addition, educational cooperation is also considered by Mr. Lim Chung Sung as a promising field, thereby creating a foundation for expanding cooperation in many other fields in the future.

The meeting took place in a friendly, open and constructive atmosphere to realize the cooperative relationship between Vietnamese localities and Busan city. This is an important step to realize the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Korea, and at the same time affirms the determination of Vietnamese localities in proactively integrating and expanding international cooperation.

On behalf of the Vietnamese delegation, Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh affirmed that Nghe An and the localities of Quang Tri and Tay Ninh are ready to accompany Busan in many specific projects, for the common interests and sustainable development of both sides. The delegation also expressed the wish to soon welcome Busan city leaders and Korean enterprises to visit and work in Vietnam in the near future.

Before that, the Vietnamese delegation had a working session with the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Receiving and working with the delegation was Mr. Jung Hyun Min - Vice President of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Phung Thanh Vinh gave an overview of the potential, advantages, as well as key areas that Nghe An wishes to cooperate with Busan city, such as: investment attraction, labor cooperation, tourism...

Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Phung Thanh Vinh also expressed his hope that the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry will lead a business delegation to explore investment opportunities in Nghe An in the near future.

In his response, Mr. Jung Hyun Min - Vice President of Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry highly appreciated the development potential of Vietnam in general and Nghe An in particular.

He said that Vietnam's opening of a Consulate General in Busan will create a foundation to promote deeper cooperation between the two sides. Vietnam has advantages in young human resources, strategic location and long coastline, which are attractive factors for Korean investors.

In the future, Busan hopes to expand cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of: Marine economic development, shipbuilding, oceanography, logistics, AI, ICT and automobile industry.

Mr. Jung Hyun Min affirmed that Busan will closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan to explore more cooperation opportunities with Vietnamese localities.

The working session opened up many prospects for practical cooperation between Nghe An province and Busan city, contributing to tightening the economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Korea in the new period.
