Accordingly, on the morning of April 30th, a large fire broke out in the forest area of Tan Phong hamlet, Thanh Khai commune, Thanh Chuong district. Immediately afterwards, the functional forces of Thanh Chuong district mobilized forces to extinguish the fire.

However, due to the hot weather and strong southwest winds, the fire spread to forests in Nam Thai commune and near the temple of King Mai Hac De in Nam Dan town, Nam Dan district. The burned area consisted of mixed pine and acacia forests.

Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: The fire near the Mai Hac De Temple in Nam Dan town was extinguished by noon on April 30th. Regarding the fire spreading in Nam Thai commune, Nam Dan district, the local authorities mobilized a four-pronged response force that night, including soldiers from the 414th Engineering Brigade, the Nam Dan District Special Forest Management Board, forest rangers, and police, along with firefighting equipment. The challenge lies in the fact that forest firefighting is dangerous at night, visibility is limited, the terrain is mountainous, and strong winds blow, with some fires having flames rising tens of meters high, making it difficult for firefighters to access.

However, with high determination and without fear of difficulties or dangers, by 10:30 PM on April 30th, the forces had basically brought the forest fire under control.

For the fires that have been brought under control, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that units continue to assign personnel to be on duty 24/7 to prevent the fire from reigniting, and to have plans in place to evacuate residents in critical areas if necessary.
