Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee arrested in 'rescue flight' case
Mr. Tran Van Tan, 43 years old, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, was accused of accepting bribes in the "rescue flight" case.
On December 31, the Ministry of Public Security announced that Mr. Tan was prosecuted and detained for the crime.Take bribes.
A search warrant was executed for Mr. Tan's residence and workplace. The decision to prosecute was approved by the Supreme People's Procuracy.

Since late October, the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency has asked Quang Nam province to provide information related to the process of organizing flights to rescue citizens from abroad, including the selection of hotels and resorts as quarantine locations.
In 2018, Mr. Tan was elected Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Province at the age of 39, the youngest vice chairman in the country at that time. During the flight rescue, Quang Nam was the locality that received the most people from abroad for quarantine in the country, with tens of thousands of people.

The prosecution of Mr. Tan took place in the context of the Ministry of Public Security's security investigation agency expanding the case.Bribery, Receiving bribes, Fraudulent appropriation of propertyoccurred at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Transport, Government Office and related units when carrying out rescue flights.
After more than 11 months of investigation, 38 people have been arrested. Most recently, on December 22, Mr. Chu Xuan Dung (Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee) and Mr. Vu Hong Nam (former Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan) were arrested on charges of accepting bribes.
In this case, the same charge of bribery also includes defendants Nguyen Quang Linh (Assistant to the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister); Mr. To Anh Dung (former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs); Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong Lan (former Director of the Consular Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and many diplomatic officials working in Japan, Malaysia, Russia, and Angola.
At the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Public Security, Mr. Tran Van Du (former deputy director) and two subordinates Vu Sy Cuong and Vu Anh Tuan were arrested for the crime.Take bribes.
Ms. Pham Thi Kim Ngan (officer of the Administrative Department, Inspection Magazine, under the Government Inspectorate) is currently the only person being investigated for the crime.Broker bribery.
