Deputy head of Can Tho tax department commits suicide by jumping from building.

On the morning of October 23, the Ninh Kieu District Police in Can Tho City announced that Mr. Nguyen Viet Than, Deputy Director of the Can Tho City Tax Department, had committed suicide by jumping from a building at Tan Trieu Private Kindergarten in An Hoa Ward, Ninh Kieu District.

Witnesses at the scene said that on the morning of October 23, Mr. Than (54 years old) came to the school to look for his wife, Ms. Ha Thi Kim Thoa, who is the principal of the school.

He then went to the stairwell, pressed the elevator button to go to the rooftop, and jumped down into the schoolyard, dying at 10 a.m.

Authorities said Mr. Than jumped from the rooftop of the four-story, 27-meter-high school building.

His family had previously experienced discord and conflict.

The police are currently sealing off and examining the scene.
