Deputy director quits job with thousand dollar salary to open dating service

Holding a debt of half a billion after failing to start a business in 2011, Vu Nguyet Anh - the runner-up of the University of Theatre and Cinema still returned to revive the high-end dating community.

Vu Nguyet Anh won the title of promising face in the program "Women of the 21st Century" at the age of 19. She graduated as second place in the Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema, majoring in television directing.

Not long after graduating, Nguyet Anh was invited to become the Deputy CEO of a media company thanks to her excellent degree and many years of experience in the television industry. However, the girl born in 1987 still decided to give up a high-paying job with opportunities for career advancement, and embarked on her first business venture at the age of 24.

Vu Nguyet Anh started her first business when she was only 24 years old.

In 2011, Nguyet Anh built the Ericamoon dating community but failed. High organization costs, weak market, lack of financial management experience..., so after more than a year of operating at a loss, Nguyet Anh closed the company in regret.

After 4 years of working hard to pay off a bank debt of nearly half a billion VND, she was determined to take revenge and return to build a high-end dating community right in the heart of the capital. Rudicaf was officially founded by female CEO Vu Nguyet Anh in July 2016.

"The dating market in Vietnam has a lot of potential, but over the past 10 years, many companies providing this service have closed down one after another. However, former US President Obama once said: 'In Silicon Valley, if you start a business and never fail, you haven't really started a business'. Therefore, I always cherish my failure at the age of 24," Nguyet Anh said.

According to her, to be successful, it is necessary to build a quality and different dating community that customers trust. This is the reason why the 8x girl decided to pursue the field of connecting people, where she falls, she will get up from there.

The mobile dating app Rudicaf Dating was launched on International Singles Day, November 11, 2016. Since its inception, Nguyet Anh has aimed to build a quality dating community for picky and demanding people. Only single people in accordance with the law, with a bachelor's degree or higher, men with an income of 12 million VND or more, women with a salary of over 8 million VND per month... are allowed to join the community.

This dating community currently has nearly 150 members, despite tens of thousands of applications sent in over the past year. The high standards mean that the number of selected single members only accounts for 1-2% of the total number of customers. Of these, 37% are former international students from developed countries; 51% are bachelors and masters from major universities in Vietnam, 38% hold management, director, and department head positions in prestigious businesses.

The female CEO said: "In addition to the above quantitative requirements, we also base on many other qualitative criteria in the application evaluation process. These are personal style, communication skills, civilized behavior, serious attitude towards dating...".

To ensure accurate registration information, the customer care team proactively meets, contacts and evaluates users based on professional experience. At the same time, they exploit all information, data, interactions, and customer relationships on social networking sites. Documents proving marital status, resumes, copies of labor contracts, bank salary statements, etc. are also required to ensure the authenticity of member information.

To join the application, customers must pay a large fee, 11-19 million per year depending on the membership package. In return, users save time and effort in searching for suitable singles, participating in quality dating. Customers also avoid the risk of sexual harassment, adultery, disguised prostitution...

Rudicaf is an abbreviation of the phrase “Invite to coffee”. The application does not have online chat tools or online gift giving, but encourages couples to meet and chat in real life, virtual networks but real people. After personal background is verified, users have the right to view other members’ profiles, schedule offline dates with potential partners.

"Dating to find love and marriage partners is one of the goals of the project. Even if they don't go further, they still have interesting experiences, find new friends who can support them in work and life. Or simply help single people change their concepts about dating, love, and marriage through real experiences. Many couples have fallen in love, gotten married, or become special friends with each other," the female CEO shared.

The female CEO born in 1987 said that the startup is continuing to upgrade the new version. In addition to the profile viewing and appointment booking features, the application also allows pairing based on preferences, group appointments, and suggested dating partners...

To celebrate the first anniversary of Rudicaf Dating on November 11, the startup will launch the book "Ken" style dating to change customers' perceptions of dating services that are still quite new in Vietnam. At the same time, the female CEO will organize workshops on psychology and effective dating consulting services for those who are still looking for their other half.

In 2018, Vu Nguyet Anh plans to develop a new application with the criteria of selecting only members who are "single according to the law", to serve a large number of users.
