At the invitation of DPRK Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh paid an official visit to DPRK from February 12-14, 2019.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh's visit to North Korea took place in the context of US President Donald Trump confirming last week that he and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will hold their second summit in Hanoi on February 27-28, 2019.
US officials also expressed their gratitude to Vietnam for accepting to host the second US-North Korea Summit. The US State Department said that the choice of Vietnam as the venue for this important event shows that Vietnam and the US have overcome the past of conflict and division to move towards a strong cooperative relationship, "reflecting the prospect of peace and prosperity"./.
