Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh has passed away.

According to information from the Central Committee's Health Protection and Care Board, Comrade Le Van Thanh, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Deputy Prime Minister, after a period of illness, despite the dedicated efforts of the Party, the State, a team of professors and doctors, and the devoted care of his family, passed away at 8:20 PM on August 22, 2023, at his private residence, No. 217 Lach Tray Street, Ngo Quyen District, Hai Phong City, due to the severity of his illness.

Details regarding the visitation, memorial service, and burial of Comrade Le Van Thanh will be announced later.

Comrade Le Van Thanh was born on October 20, 1962; joined the Party on June 24, 1997; his hometown is Tan Lien commune, Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city.

During his time working in Hai Phong city, Comrade Le Van Thanh held various positions: Deputy Secretary, Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of Hai Phong Cement Company, concurrently Head of the Hai Phong Cement Urban Area Project Management Board; Member of the City Party Committee, Member of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee; Chairman of the City People's Committee; Secretary of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee; Secretary of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Group, Chairman of the City People's Council.

He is a member of the Central Committee of the Party in the 12th and 13th terms; a member of the National Assembly in the 12th term; and has served as Deputy Prime Minister of the Government from April 2021 to the present.
