Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha: Promoting the mission of 'leading the way' of the Transport sector
According to Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, with the mission of "leading the way", the transport sector is the sector that creates connections between economic sectors, between localities and countries.
On the afternoon of December 30, the Ministry of Transport held a conference to review the work in 2024 and deploy key tasks in 2025.
Attending and directing the conference were Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and representatives of ministries, departments, branches, and representatives of National Assembly committees.

Disbursement of 60,200 billion VND
In 2024, with the determination, efforts and endeavors of the collective leadership, cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of the entire industry, all aspects of the transport sector's work in 2024 have completed the set plan, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the country.
Accordingly, the work of building and perfecting institutions has many breakthroughs, contributing to promoting decentralization and delegation of power, promoting production and business activities, and removing difficulties for enterprises.

During the year, the Ministry started 10 projects, inaugurated and put into operation 8 projects, many complicated problems and difficulties were focused on and resolved such as site clearance, material sources for the projects. The progress of important national projects, key projects of the transport sector was basically guaranteed, many long-standing difficulties and problems were resolved, some projects were able to be completed 3 to 6 months ahead of schedule, the last 2 component projects on the North-South expressway, phase 1, were inaugurated and put into operation, increasing the total number of kilometers of expressway nationwide to more than 2,000 km.
The disbursement of public investment capital also recorded many bright spots. In 2024, the Ministry of Transport was assigned about 75,481 billion VND (including 71,288 billion VND assigned and extended according to the 2024 Plan and 4,193 billion VND additionally assigned from November 2024). It is expected that by the end of December 2024, the Ministry of Transport will disburse about 60,200 billion VND, reaching 80% of the plan and striving to reach 95% of the plan by the end of the fiscal year, becoming one of the leading groups in disbursement nationwide.
Transport activities continue to have many positive changes, continuing to maintain a stable double-digit growth momentum associated with strong reductions in administrative procedures, fees, and charges, and promoting the application of information technology. In 2024, the volume of freight transport is estimated to reach 2,450 million tons, an increase of 14.5%; passenger transport is estimated to reach 4.7 million passengers, an increase of 11.2% compared to 2023.

The Ministry of Transport has proactively implemented storm and flood prevention and control work, promptly responded early and remotely; continued to promote digital transformation, reform administrative procedures, enhance the application of science, technology, and international cooperation; restructured, arranged, and innovated enterprises; focused on preventing and combating corruption and negativity.
In addition, the work of building e-government, digital transformation, administrative reform, and administrative procedure reform continues to have many positive changes. Many administrative procedures have been and are being reduced, helping to create favorable conditions for people and businesses in life and production and business activities.
Promoting the spirit of "going first to pave the way"

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized the role, significance and importance of the transport sector to socio-economic development and people's lives. This is a key sector, pioneering many types of transport by rail, road, waterway, and air; creating connections in economic sectors, connecting localities and regions and countries around the world.
"This is a historic conference as the country is entering a new era and the transport sector, after nearly 80 years, is preparing to enter a new period," said the Deputy Prime Minister.

This is a change in the direction of strengthening and synchronizing, contributing to building a state apparatus: "Refined - Lean - Strong - Effective - Efficient" under the direction of the leaders of the Party, State and Government.
"With the mission of pioneering, the transport sector is the sector that creates connections between economic sectors, between localities and countries," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

Directing the tasks in the coming time, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Transport after the merger process, what has been done well, the transport sector needs to do better in accordance with the spirit of "Ministry refined, province strong", step by step train a team of cadres with breakthrough and innovative thinking, organize the management apparatus in the direction of "Refined - Lean - Strong - Effective - Effective - Efficient", with integration with the management of urban and rural areas, creating a combined strength.
Transport IndustryWe also need to proactively seize opportunities and take the lead in industrial development, especially opportunities from high-speed railway and urban railway projects.
Along with the synchronous implementation of transport methods, the Ministry also needs to calculate the synchronous development between regions. When investing in transport routes, they must be placed in an ecosystem, with connectivity and synchronization to promote investment efficiency.

"In 2025, the transport sector must identify key investment projects and raise the issue of institutional reform in railways, maritime, inland waterways and aviation. The Ministry should soon set up key projects such as the North-South high-speed railway, Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho, Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong, and speed up the preparation of investment procedures, start construction and put this project into the national key project to have a basis to speed up progress," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
The transport sector is also required to continue institutional reform, especially in railways, maritime, inland waterways, and aviation after a period of focusing on breakthroughs in the road sector. Digital transformation and green transformation need to continue to be promoted, from planning, construction organization, to operation and exploitation.
