Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh: 'Creating the best conditions for ethnic women to promote their strengths'

(Baonghean.vn) – On the morning of June 11, at the Provincial Labor Culture House, Nghe An Province – the Northwest Steering Committee – Vietnam Women's Union jointly organized a conference to honor ethnic women who are good at doing business in the Northwest region.

Attending and chairing the conference, on the Central side were comrades: Truong Hoa Binh - Member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minister; Hau A Lenh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Northwest Steering Committee; Bui Thi Thanh - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Bui Thi Hoa - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union. Also attending were representatives of the Northwest Steering Committee, the Vietnam Women's Union, the Government Office and central ministries and branches.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and a number of comrades of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

Attending the conference were representatives of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee and 192 typical groups and individuals with good economic performance from 30 ethnic minorities in 14 provinces in the Northwest region and two neighboring provinces of Quang Ninh and Ha Tinh.

In recent years, under the investment of the Party, the State and the efforts of the people, the socio-economic development of the Northwest has taken place. In that general achievement, it is necessary to mention the efforts to overcome difficulties, escape poverty, become rich, and join hands to build a sustainable Northwest region of ethnic women who account for over 51% of the region's population.

Among them, there are many typical examples of women in economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction in many fields: agriculture - forestry; industry - handicrafts; trade - tourism and services; preservation and development of traditional occupations; charity work, social security.

The 192 outstanding delegates honored represent women of more than 30 ethnic groups from 14 provinces in the Northwest region and 2 provinces of Quang Ninh and Ha Tinh. They have different ages, backgrounds, and occupations, but share the same determination and will to become rich from their homeland, and shine with the spirit of mutual love and support.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Truong Hoa Binh - Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged and congratulated 192 typical collectives and individuals of women who were honored on this occasion. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized: Promoting the role and enhancing the capacity of ethnic women is an important task, requiring strategic solutions and innovative thinking, and synchronous participation of all levels, sectors, Party committees and local authorities.

After the conference, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union coordinated with the Northwest Steering Committee to continue researching and supplementing policies suitable to reality; promoting patriotic emulation movements, creatively improving quality and innovating working methods, creating the best conditions for ethnic women to promote their strengths in all fields.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee affirmed: Nghe An regularly pays attention to and focuses on leading the implementation of the women's movement, especially in ethnic minority areas, and has achieved many remarkable results. Honored to be chosen as the host of the conference to honor ethnic women who are good at doing business in the Northwest region this time, Nghe An determined that this is an opportunity to learn, exchange and share experiences with delegates from other provinces.

On this occasion, 32 groups and 160 individuals were honored to receive certificates of merit from the Northwest Steering Committee.
