Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue: The Government has no policy of reforming the writing system.
Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue said the Government respects the differences and creativity of each individual, but has no policy of innovating the writing system.
On December 4, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue and the National Assembly delegation of Ha Tinh province met with voters in Duc Tho district. One issue that voters are interested in is the proposal to improve the writing system by Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hien, which has caused a stir in public opinion recently.
Mr. Vo Cong Ham, Secretary of Duc Tho District Party Committee, expressed that the majority of voters disagreed with this proposal because it was unnecessary, wasteful, and costly to society.

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said that the Government and the Ministry of Education and Training have no policy to reform the Vietnamese writing system. The Government respects freedom of speech, differences and creativity of each individual.
"Everyone should have a fair view and need to respond to suggestions and innovations that are useful to the community," said Mr. Hue.
Previously, at a language conference in July in Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh), Associate Professor, Doctor of Literature Bui Hien (former Vice Principal of Hanoi University of Foreign Languages) announced the unfinished work on improving the national language.
Compared to the current table, the new table proposed by Associate Professor Hien adds 4 Latin letters F, J, W, Z and removes the letter Đ from the current Vietnamese alphabet. The phonemic values of the 11 existing letters are also changed.
Specifically, C will be replaced by Ch, Tr; D = Đ; G = G, Gh; F = Ph; K = C, Q, K; Q = Ng, Ngh; R = R; S = S; X = Kh; W = Th; Z = D, Gi, R. He also created a new letter for the phoneme "nhờ" (nh). Thus, the word Giáo dục will be rewritten as Záo zụk, in Vietnamese as tiệq Việt...
This proposal has received mixed opinions. The Ministry of Education and Training confirmed that it does not plan to improve the writing system at this stage.
