On the morning of July 12, at the Southwest Steering Committee, Politburo member and Standing member of the Secretariat Dinh The Huynh, on behalf of the Politburo, presented Decision No. 280 assigning comrade Vuong Dinh Hue - Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister to assume the position of Head of the Southwest Steering Committee and presented Decision No. 252 of the Secretariat assigning comrade Nguyen Trung Hieu - Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province to assume the position of Deputy Head of the Southwest Steering Committee.

Attending the conference to implement the above Decisions were also leaders of Party committees, leaders of central ministries, branches and localities in the Mekong Delta region.

Speaking at the conference, Standing member of the Secretariat Dinh The Huynh said that after the 12th National Party Congress, along with implementing, studying and putting the Party Congress Resolution into life, the Politburo and the Secretariat focused on leading and directing the completion of leadership positions of Party and State Committees.

Recently, the Politburo met and reached a high consensus on assigning comrade Vuong Dinh Hue to the position of Head of the Southwest Steering Committee. The Party Central Committee Secretariat also reached a high consensus on assigning comrade Nguyen Trung Hieu to the position of Deputy Head of the Southwest Steering Committee.

Standing member of the Secretariat Dinh The Huynh assessed comrade Vuong Dinh Hue as a well-trained, capable, and experienced leader who had served as Vice Principal of the Academy of Finance, Deputy State Auditor General, State Auditor General, Minister of Finance, Head of the Central Economic Commission, Deputy Prime Minister; a member of the Party Central Committee for the 10th, 11th, and 12th terms; and a member of the 12th Politburo.

As for comrade Nguyen Trung Hieu, the Standing member of the Secretariat assessed him as a cadre who grew up from the grassroots, having held many key positions in the locality such as Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Youth Union, Secretary of the Town Party Committee, Chairman of the Soc Trang Town People's Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee.

On behalf of the Politburo and the Secretariat, Standing member of the Secretariat Dinh The Huynh believes that comrades Vuong Dinh Hue and Nguyen Trung Hieu will continue to promote their capacity and experience, together with the leaders and civil servants of the Southwest Steering Committee, to successfully complete the important but very heavy assigned tasks, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his deep awareness that the Southwest region is an area with an extremely important strategic position not only in terms of economy and society but also in terms of national defense and security.

The Head of the Southwest Steering Committee affirmed that he will promote the spirit, determination and working experience, and together with the comrades in the Southwest Steering Committee Standing Committee, unite and strive to successfully complete the tasks of economic and social development, strengthen national defense and security, and ensure social security for the people of 13 provinces in the Mekong Delta in the spirit of the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress, the Resolutions of the National Assembly, the Government and the Government's action programs.

In the coming time, Head of the Southwest Steering Committee Vuong Dinh Hue said that he will quickly complete the Steering Committee's apparatus to carry out assigned tasks on ethnic affairs, religion, safety, social security, regional linkage mechanisms, planning and investing in inter-regional infrastructure systems, restructuring agricultural production, attracting businesses to invest in agriculture, rural areas, etc. in the Mekong Delta.
