Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue offers flowers to commemorate heroic martyrs in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 27, Comrade Vuong Dinh Hue - Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and the Government delegation visited and offered flowers and incense at the Vietnam - Laos International Martyrs' Cemetery; Truong Bon National Historical Relic Site.

Accompanying the delegation, on the side of Nghe An province were comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of provincial departments and branches; leaders of Anh Son, Do Luong and Nam Dan districts.

The Vietnam-Laos International Martyrs' Cemetery, located in Anh Son town (Anh Son district), is one of the works that represents the spirit of solidarity and special traditional friendship between the two brotherly countries of Vietnam and Laos. This is the resting place of more than 11,000 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts who sacrificed their lives on the battlefields of their neighboring country.

To remember and pay tribute to the heroic martyrs of the Vietnamese volunteer army who fought side by side with the army and people to protect the two countries, our Party and State have built this special cemetery as a resting place for the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who fought and sacrificed in Laos.

Currently, the cemetery has about 6,900 graves with unknown names and hometowns and nearly 600 graves with names but unknown hometowns.

Before the heroic martyrs, the delegates lit incense on each grave, expressing deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the noble international duty.

The delegation offered incense and flowers at the common grave of 13 youth volunteers of the Steel Squad of the Nghe An Youth Volunteers who died while on duty connecting the traffic arteries in the early morning of October 31, 1968, just a few hours before US planes stopped bombing the North.

During the fierce war years of the resistance war against the US to save the country, on the strategic route 15A - the only road Truong Bon was the place connecting the traffic arteries of the great rear of the North to support human and material resources for the battlefield in the South.

During the confrontation with the bombs and bullets of the American invaders at the "fire coordinates" of Truong Bon, more than 1,500 cadres and soldiers of 9 Youth Volunteer Companies, belonging to the Youth Volunteer Team against the US to save the country in Nghe An province, day and night held their ground and fought tenaciously with courage, with an iron will and determination, creating feats and miracles here.

Offering fresh flowers and incense to the souls of the heroic martyrs and youth volunteers, the delegation expressed their respect, gratitude, admiration and deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs - the resilient and indomitable children who did not spare their blood and bones, dedicating their entire noble youth to the independence and freedom of the Fatherland; their sacrifices will forever be shining examples for today's and future generations to learn from and follow.
