Deputy Prime Minister requests Ministry of Education and Training to separate textbook making stages
At a meeting with leaders of ministries, sectors in the education and training sector, and representatives of several associations, on the afternoon of February 28, one of the contents requested by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam for the Ministry of Education and Training is to separate content compilation from printing and distribution for the new textbook program.
Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Thanh Long said that the Ministry of Education and Training needs to speed up the progress of compiling textbooks according to the new program, because "worrying about the program once means worrying about textbooks ten times more".

In his concluding remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam stated that regarding the implementation of the new curriculum and textbooks, the Ministry of Education and Training directed the focus on compiling a set of official textbooks in accordance with the resolution assigned by the National Assembly. The content compilation stage is separated from the printing and distribution stage.
In addition to the knowledge content in the program, the new textbooks cannot lack the content of teaching ethics and how to be a good person for students, from eating, speaking, greetings to singing national anthems, doing physical exercises, and maintaining public hygiene.
Regarding the upcoming national high school exam, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that during the exam preparation process, it is necessary to “order” experts for all possible situations. Sample exam questions need to be well prepared.
In addition, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam also pointed out a number of tasks that the Ministry of Education and Training as well as ministries and sectors related to education and training need to carry out in the coming time, such as the draft Law on Education (amended) is in the drafting and decision-making stage, the Ministry of Education and Training must actively participate.
“The spirit is that "when the law comes into effect, decrees and circulars that are contrary to the law must be amended. At the same time, prepare decrees and circulars to guide the upcoming Law on Education (amended)" - the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
Regarding the issue of teacher staffing, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Education and Training to use the data on teacher staffing in each school, subject, and level of education to forecast the demand for teachers in the coming years in each locality, combined with statistics on the number of students in each locality studying pedagogy. Only then can we fundamentally solve the problem of teacher staffing.
The Deputy Prime Minister also requested the education sector to drastically change governance, build ethics, lifestyle, culture... in schools.
