Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh also sent his deepest condolences to the victims' families and directed the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province to promptly organize visits, encourage and take appropriate measures for the victims' families.
The Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province directed the functional forces to urgently investigate, clarify and soon bring the case to strict trial before the law, strengthen crime prevention measures in the area, and ensure a peaceful life for the people.
Previously, at around 5:00 a.m. on December 26, in Luong Binh 2 hamlet, Son Phu commune, Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province, Hoang Van Chin used a knife to slash to death at least 5 people, including Chin's wife, Ma Thi Huong (born 1976).
At the police station, Chin admitted to being addicted to drugs, using heroin and crystal meth many times. He had been suffering from insomnia for many months, which made him mentally unstable and always felt confused and uncomfortable. Early in the morning of December 26, he heard his wife, Ma Thi Huong (born in 1976), grumbling about leaving home.

In a fit of rage and out of control, Chin took a hammer and hit Ms. Huong in the head, causing her death. After that, Chin said he grabbed a knife and ran away, where he met his brother-in-law, his nephew, and a neighbor.
In a fit of madness, the subject continued to use a knife to slash, causing the death of 4 more victims: Mr. Luong Van Banh (born 1974), Chin's brother-in-law; Mr. Hoang Van Luan (born 1975), Ms. Tran Thi Huong (born 1984), Mr. Hoang Van Nam (born 1994), Mr. Luong Van Hoang (born 1966, seriously injured), all residing in Luong Binh 2 hamlet.After committing the crime, Hoang Van Chin fled.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Giap - Head of the Criminal Police Department of Thai Nguyen Police said that the process of capturing the subject encountered many difficulties because the area of Dinh Hoa district (Thai Nguyen) is mountainous, with many shortcuts. To capture the subject, the police force had to organize patrols and set up checkpoints at each hill to track the subject.
